While there’s a dearth of PS3 exclusives right now, this fall, Sony is going to be churning out exclusives in their attempt to capture the hearts and minds before Christmas. Let’s take a look at three exclusives that should be at the front of the hype train, but are riding in the caboose.
SOCOM: Confrontation Release date 9/18/08
Description: (thanks IGN!)
“SOCOM breaches onto the PS3 in high-definition with the ultimate next-generation online combat experience. SOCOM Confrontation focuses on online play and the global community and clans that support it. With support for Tournaments, Clan Ladders, Leader Boards, this fourth title in the multi... More »
10. TurboGrafx-16
NEC wanted to drive home the point that its console packed 16 bits of fury. Thus, we have this beauty, which successfully communicates the system's power over its NES competitor. The machine didn't perform well in the States, but that's perfectly fine, since you can relive its best and worst offerings via Wii's Virtual Console.
9. Sega Saturn
Companies ballsy enough to name their system after a planet also need an out of this world logo. So Sega snatched Saturn from the heavens and then wrapped an S around it, just in case you assumed Nintendo was responsible for the machine. Too bad the Saturn died an early death. At least it gave us Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radiant Silvergun.
8. Xbox 360
The last thing Microsoft ever wants (aside from losing another billion) is for you to forget that its machines ... More »
So when I put the game in my PS3, I was more than ready to race. Here’s a breakdown of what happened:
-9:24pm - Loaded the game, started the install process
-9:37pm - Install ended (13 minutes total, using 5349MB)
-9:38pm - Began downloading the game update
-9:42pm - Error occurred during download, had to start over
-9:44pm - Began downloading the game update… again
-9:51pm - Update finished, needed to hold the PS button to quit the game
-9:52pm - Restart game, going through menus
-9:53pm - Begin car shopping (you have to buy a car first with the 35k credits you have before you can race)
-10:01pm - Bought car after looking for a while for what I can afford (settled on Mazda RX-8)
-10:07pm - Finally finished first... More »
Sure, we've been dumping PS3 images since 6 days after the U.S. launch HERE, however, the big difference is that now users won't have to do it through Linux nor via PS3 SAK anymore... providing they own a Lite-On DH-401S drive.
Of course this doesn't mean they are playable on retail PS3 consoles though (like Linux/SAK image dumps, the PS3 sees the media as a data disc instead of a game disc).
VERY nice find Jan70, and below are a few screenshots and a directory layout for Lost Planet!

Well, it has been done! In an amazing feat taking all of 10 minutes, Courier pulled the two PS3 NAND Flash chips from the PS3 TEST and dumped them. Nothing like a hot air rework station in the hands of a professional!
So, the PS3 TEST Flash has been dumped! We also had a chance to do a preliminary analysis on it as we have seen and catalogued nearly 15 seperate PS3 Retail Flash dumps- and there is only (1) constant string in the section we are examining in all of them.
But in the PS3 TEST, it differs!!
More information will be posted soon, but the plan is now to replace said data on a Retail PS3 system, and by doing so modifying its identity to pass the update verification so t... More »
GDC 08 was a nice place for some little announcements for Nintendo. Around GDC, Nintendo announced official release dates for Wii Fit and WiiWare. They also announced another interesting feature…
Nintendo Pay and Play is a new feature that will likely go on a game by game basis. Games that feature the blue Nintendo WiFi Connection logo will support free online play. Games with the Red WiFi logo will support Pay and Play.
Of course, this was all announced a couple of months ago, and everyone likely knows about it. But lets take a look at the the good features that could come from Pay and Play, as well as the possible bad features.
When many gamers read about the announcements for Pay and Play, many were instantly frustrated on how Nintendo said they would support a free online service, but is now going to make them pay. I instantly thought of the good things that can come from Pay and Play. First off, no more friend codes! Nintendo said that Pay... More »

Update: beefmanbeefer has confirmed it to be working with PS3 Firmware 2.20, however, based on reports it appears it doesn't work with lower Firmware versions.
He also shared a video (below) and states: Here is PS3 Home BETA crashing, what I do in the video is this: First I try to connect to the servers and it fails. Then I press X to try to connect again, and almost simultaneously I press the PS button and go to quit. It then says please wait and then the ps3 finally crashes when you hear the 2 beeps.
Hi, My name is Krystian and my english is bad, that's all about me :)
I found some interesting thing when I was 'playing' with PS3.ProxyServer. I replaced some XML files, and now I can install PlayStation@Home public BETA Trial from PLAYSTATION@Network servers in XMB.
I think it's to prepare for real open BETA, and th... More »

Yesterday we posted a rumor of a PS3 Hello World Homebrew Method found by dragula96. Many were skeptical as it was announced the day before April Fool's Day, however, today we are happy to confirm the only fools were those who dubbed it as "fake" :P
Courtesy of dragula96, here is the PS3 Hello World UT3 Mod Proof-Of-Concept along with related info and a new video detailing how it was done! Please NOTE (as suspected in the previous comments) this is a UT3 Mod and not true PS3 homebrew (running unsigned code), however, it is an excellent accomplishment in itself.
