So you already know I've been following it closely and can't wait to get my hands on it. If you're a fan of the franchise you won’t need to be convinced, but just in case you are having doubts read on and you'll see why I am so hyped about it.
1. The Gameplay
Don’t get it twisted we all love the old 2D arcade versions of the game, they were plenty fun for the time, but the thought of swinging around in open world 3D environment with the Bionic Arm has to get you hyped. In the old versions Nathan “Rad” Spencer was unable to jump, he could only use his arm to get from place to place. Now you will be w... More »
UK Playstation boss Ray Maguire has admitted what we already knew, namely that the PS3's slow start was due to the high RRP.
"The gamble that Ken Kutaragi took with the PlayStation 3 was to put in a high level of technology, so it has been a bit slow to market in some respects, but we're now seeing how people are starting to understand how the technology works. Historically, the installed base of any hardware platform has been proportional to its great gameplay, but also very attached to the RRP.
That was the second part of Kutaragi-san's gamble, as that hardware made the machine more expensive. But now we're in the second part of the PS3's cyc... More »
4. Final Fantasy WON'T be the saving grace in Japan for the Xbox 360
Final Fantasy does not need to be released in Japan for the sole reason that Xbox 360 in Japan is pretty much the equivalent of finding a VII gaming system in America. In Japan, they don’t want much to do with the Xbox 360. They support their countries products and have no need for a American console with more shoot’em ups that you can shake a stick at. Just take a look at July’s numbers of in Japan.
1. PSP- 56,998
2. Nintendo DS- 48,540
3. Wii- 41,798
4. PS3- 12,458
5. PS2- 10,405
6. Xbox 360- 3,807
If I were in charge of Microsoft, I would have stopped trying to beat that dead horse many days ago.
3. Final Fantasy 11 was on the 360.

He believes that since FFXIII is now a cross-platform title, it will not move consoles in the same way that exclusive titles do, like Metal Gear Solid 4 for instance.
To quote: What you have with “Final Fantasy XIII” is a lot like what they’ve paid for with “GTA.” It’s not an exclusive on their platform. It’s now a cross-platform game. And I think if you look at how “GTA” behaved in the marketplace and how it drove — or didn’t drive — either console, that’s what I’m talking about. Consumers responded to “GTA” on the PS3 just as they did on the 360.
He’s probably right. After seeing the effect of GTA IV on both consoles, many are expecting a very similar situ... More »

Available in retail stores in the U.S. and Canada starting in early August, the upgraded Xbox 360 will include a 60GB hard drive for storing the growing wealth of digital entertainment available for the console, including music, movies, television shows and game content.
In addition, Microsoft today dropped the price of its 20GB Xbox 360 console in the U.S. and Canada to just $299 (U.S.) (ERP) while supplies last, a savings of $50.
"We know consumers need more and more space to store the amazing digital content Xbox 360 offers, and we're giving it to them at no extra charge," said Albert Penello, Xbox director of product management at Microsoft. "No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment ... More »
Okay... deep breath. The PS3 is kinda broken.
Now we don’t mean that the PS3 will ‘red ring’ at any given opportunity, and we’re not suggesting it’s a console destined for the scrapheap – quite the opposite. When we say the PS3 is broken, we say it with the best of intentions, with a barely contained frustration towards a machine that, in its current state, will never fulfil its full potential.
We’re talking of course about processing bottlenecks, and the PS3 has a tonne of them.
The first major bottleneck is a result of the Blu ray drive. Although Blu-ray has traditionally been seen as the major selling point of the PS3 (and to a certain extent it is) at this ear... More »

With the hot news I saw I had to do something! Swap Magic on PS3 running? I thought it was patched, and indeed so, but only on US/Jap consoles.. I tried several swap magic (SM from now), but none worked... and this is becaused it IS patched, on fw 2.10 and up.
So I thought... if they patched a specific title, they seem they haven't patched others... so I found that I can create a bootable PS2 disc and I made one. I added many useful PS2 ELFs (not all useful for now..) but we have what we need. Ok, first the proof and then tutorial:
This method using an original SM disk has been already posted.. but never actully confirmed how or when SM works.. The method with an ORIGINAL SM DISC works only on EUROPEAN PS3s any FW, except 40gb p... More »

Japan is a very important territory for the video games industry. Although it is smaller than either the USA or Europe, what happens in Asia can affect the rest of the world’s markets substantially.
Which is why the fact that the Playstation 3 has caught up substantially with the Wii during June is big news. The Xbox 360 of course is still trailing far behind, and the life support machine should probably just be turned off now.
I’ve spoken before about what can influence gamers purchasing decisions about which console they are going to buy. And let’s not forget that most people haven’t yet bought a current-gen console, so the market is still to play for. Although price, advertising, peer pressure and graphics can all help a console to sell, the largest factor has to be the games.
And that was the case in Japan for June, with the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 reportedly helping the PS3 to close the gap with the Nintendo Wii in terms of mon... More »
