Step #1: Purchase the Samsung M6 500GB hard drive (widely available online for around $230). Important note: The M6 is the only 500GB internal hard drive that will fit into the PS3. Use the PS3's Backup function to transfer saves and other content to a USB drive.
Step #2: Unplug the PS3 and ground yourself. Open the PS3's hard drive access port, located on the side of the unit, with your fingernail.
Step #3: Carefully unscrew the blue screw using the correct screwdriver bit (Philips Precise) using gentle pressure, taking care not to strip the screw. Pull out the metal hinge, and slide the hard drive tray out.
Step #4: Unscrew the four screws that attach th... More »
John Carmack of id Software states that the PS3 version of the upcoming cross-platform first person shooter RAGE will look better than the Xbox 360 version of the game. Carmack was quick to add that the reason for the inferior look of the Xbox 360 is a storage problem and not associated with a lack of hardware power.
Despite the obvious oversight of the Xbox 360’s DVD drive being a hardware component that is lacking in power (when compared to the Blu-ray drive of the PS3), RAGE’s humbling of the consoles hardware abilities raises some doubts for Microsoft’s next-gen console. Although at least a year from release, RAGE is not alone in its need for more than a single disc on the Xbox 360. Games such as Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey have already utilised multiple DVD’s, with the upcoming F... More »
Hello everyone it’s Travis Williams, PAIN Producer, again and I wanted to take some time to tell you about the new PlayStation Network Trophies being added to PAIN Downtown.
The last trophy I ever “earned” was in ROTC. That was way back in High School (tragic I know). So, I have been really excited to see PlayStation 3 trophies make their way into games both old and new. It’s a new way to show your “ePump-a-tude”. PAIN already features internal trophies that make the modes challenging.
That’s why it’s so awesome to get to make a whole new set of trophies. Here’s a list of some of the Trophies you will see next month. If the names seem sophomoric or juvenile to you, then you clearly haven’t been playing PAIN enough. That’s kinda “How We Do.”
To answer some questions before they come up...
Q: When will Trophies be available for PAIN?
To quote: So, my PS3 turned 1 not long ago.. so.. I decided to see what 1 year (about 4,000 hrs) of dust looks like in it, and to give it a clean.
This is a Aus 60gig, always been horizontal. (I have vacuumed the vents every week (give or take), and dust it off with a microfibre cloth almost religiously.. Never used compressed air on it)
It's home for starters (carpet floor).. So after that I have to say it wasn't as bad as I thought. But there was a lot of fine dust in it, and only a little bit of a clump under the fan on the cpu/gpu heatsink part, nothing but fine dust on the heatsink fins.
Bottom casing was very dusty (also found little bugs a mosquito..and a hair... yeah I dunno..) top o... More »

There's apparently a big feature article in the upcoming issue of Japanese gaming mag Famitsu that talks Square Enix, Final Fantasy XIII and all that jazz.
While scans haven't hit the Internet yet, we've heard from several trusted insiders who have seen the yet-unreleased issue. It mentions that FFXIII is going to be out in Japan by next summer and in Europe/USA on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 by the end of 2009 — which pretty much what we already know.
Here's the juicy bit: According to the Famitsu piece, Microsoft is footing the bill for Square Enix's FFXIII breach of PS3 exclusivity contract. No idea how much money that entails or the exact deal Microsoft worked out with Square Enix, but the fact there is not Xbox 360 version announced for Japan is telling. Square Enix does state how porting the game to the Xbox 360 should be easy.
More interesting tidbits: It's apparently hard to tell which looks better: Star Ocean 4 or Final Fantasy XIII.... More »

Copies of Grand Theft Auto IV have been pulled in Thailand after a teenager confessed to murdering a taxi driver. The 18-year-old high school student is accused of stabbing the cab driver to death by trying to copy a scene from the game.
The biggest video game publisher in the south-east Asian country, New Era Interactive Media, has told retailers to stop selling GTA IV. It is due to be replaced by another video game title.
Thai newspapers say the teenager, whose name has been withheld, was arrested while trying to steer a cab backwards out of a Bangkok street with the driver still in the back seat. Police claim the 18-year-old confessed to stealing the taxi and said he killed the 54-year-old driver after he fought back. The teenager could face the death penalty if he is found guilty. Bangkok police Captain Veerarit Pipatanasak said: "He wanted to find out if it was as easy in real life to rob a taxi as it was in the game.

When I read this on Kotaku one bit jumped out at me that I think needs some exploration. You see, the piece gives some details about the 1.5 patch for Warhawk. They mention something’s that are obvious, like trophies and custom soundtracks and some fun things like, new paint and insignia schemes.
Here’s what I like, the brief mention of offline tutorials. I want to know how robust this new offline mode is. Are talking a few quick challenges? How about the ability to play against bots? Remember Bots?
There was once a time when all multiplayer games let you play alone with bots. It was great for learning maps and how to use weapons. This way when you went online you didn’t play like an idiot when you hit a new map for the first time.
These days games are too cool, or developers are too lazy to add bots to their games, so they are a thing of the past. I don’t know what the new mode in Warhawk is, but at least I won’t have to w... More »
