I am a huge PC gamer. I don’t necessarily have the most powerful rig to run the latest and greatest games with all the bells and whistles turned on, but it serves me just fine.

However, there are some of you who will stop at nothing to have the ultimate gaming PC. For those people I present to you... the nVidia Quadro FX 5800.

What makes the nVidia Quadro FX 5800 so awesome, you ask? Well, for starters it has 4GB of onboard memory, and has a bandwidth of 102GB/s.

Or to translate: It’s the most powerful graphics card on Earth.

So how much do you think this bad boy costs? $400? $500? $800?! ...no. Try $3,500.

Yeah, $3,500. For $3,500 you could buy a whole computer — and a damn good one, at that. But, if you have the money to burn (and I mean that literally) and you want to see if a graphics card that was designed for medical computers can handle Far Cry 2... why not?

Note: I know it’s not a ... More »

PS3Life reports that TS61TS61 posted video footage of a dangerous LittleBigPlanet glitch that will mess up the entire game.

When you make a so called 'Wheel of Doom' you will constantly die, even when you go to your POD, and also when you reboot your PlayStation 3.

Hopefully Media Molecule will bring a patch out soon. Check out the video below to see this glitch in action!

To quote: DO NOT ATTEMPT! Apparently when you put a Wheel Of Doom in your level and make it spin at Max speed you get killed... all the time, even when you get out of the level!

SCEA's VP of product marketing Scott Steinberg outlines his vision for PS3's future, and the benefits he believes will drive it to market dominance

In a Keynote, he covers the benefits Sony will be promoting to consumers this Holiday season. They include PS3's Blu-ray drive, first party games, PSN's increasingly diverse product portfolio and community features.

Steinberg writes, "In the next few years, you're going to start to see us separate from the herd. Some of the other platforms are going to look very dated because their life spans are so much shorter than ours."

He adds, "If you're a competitor I've got bad news for you because we've got some absolute blockbusters that are in the works, some of them new IP, some of them existing IP, that we're building specifically for the PS3

"From a competitive standpoint our competitors are going to have a tougher road now then even in 2008. But for PlayStation 3 consumers, it means m... More »

I made a BD-J Apple II Emulator.

Currently there is no keyboard. So we can not control it...

But demos work such as Lode Runner.

Enjoy!

Well this week we have some exciting news that we hinted about last week.

First, a small technical explanation. We were not able to modify any data on the PS3's flash chips due to the ECC. The ECC is a checksum basically, that ensures whatever data is in the block is not changed or corrupted, and if it is it errors.

So, the problem was since when we tried to alter data, the ECC would then in turn be invalid, causing errors, making the system not boot.

We did develop a way around this, however, it was time consuming and quite slow. We used the PS3 to write data to the flash, then dump it, with its proper ECC, then rewrite to where we needed it. This would take hours on end! We were not able to regenerate the ECC since we did not know the proper algorithm.

But now, we can!!

After multiple tests done by NDT to see what the ECC... More »

This is just a short post to let everyone know we're still alive. Its been a quiet summer, most people were off on vacation (or on holiday, for our friends across the pond), including many of our own PS3 Devs.

However, the summer is over and we all went back to work in full force on the PS3, adding some new and very talented Devs along the way who will be helping out!

For starters, our very own ggparallel spent the past month or so along with NDT testing countless edited PS3 Firmwares on the PS3, and has been able to drastically refine our knowledge of the PS3's bootup procedure.

Below is a clear flowchart of the current theory of operation, the basic procedure is the same as we previously posted, that the system is booted in a "chain" so to speak. LV0 loads lv1ldr, which loads lv1.self (the Hypervisor).

Then depending on th... More »

Per Shalom Mann (Senior Vice President of Development, SOE LA):

For 2008, we’ve been hard at work on a few games for the PLAYSTATION Network. Today, we are happy to announce that our first game, JEOPARDY! will be released for the PSN on Thursday, September 11, 2008.

JEOPARDY!, as you may know, is one of the most popular game shows on television and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this season. During my time here at SONY, I have had the good fortune to work on several games based on JEOPARDY!, including multiple versions for PCs and mobile phones, as well as skill-based and ITV versions. The PSN version, however, is easily the best looking and marks the first time we have been able to include real-time multiplayer capabilities.

While having multiplayer games was one of the key features we wanted to include, we also needed the game to look like the TV show. Everyone on our team worked on dual mo... More »
