Download: PS3 NAND Dump Interleaver v1.40
PS3 NANDS are read and written interleaved, so if someone wants to check the Firmware content he have to use this tool in order to obtain a file that's like the console manage once we turn it on.
It's for study purposes, to allow skilled people to check the PS3 Firmware.
Some notes: Only full dumps should be used with this tool, old dumps without spare data are invalid so they won't output a valid result.
Swap bytes should be enabled, other checkmarks are there for study purposes.
Beware, almost all files are crypted! ...good study :)
NDT ;-)
To the sadness of many, it did not. Why? Because Sony did something that the other console did not, leave it in the hands of the Developers. This will not be an article bashing developers or cursing Sony. It will simply explain my views on the subject.
Let me start off first by saying that I have no need for in-game communication or custom soundtracks. Why? Because I can simply mute my television to hear the music that I want or send a text message to someone that I really want to talk to. The majority of the individuals on my friend list are people that I have never spoken to or even played a game with.
Amazing? No, I seem to find that to be quite common with many gamers. I also enjoy the... More »
In fact 100 similar Xboxes are being prepared by a Korean artisan, intended as special VIP gifts from the Microsoft chief.
The decoration is the handiwork of Kim Young-jun, the head of a manufacturing company called Gookbo.
Microsoft was looking for a unique decoration representing traditional Korean beauty. Kim decorated the console with mother-of-pearl ume flowers and butterflies symbolizing patience and perseverance and treated the surface with a special substance. He entitled the final product "Peace".

The image below is a snippet of the FULL PS3 Flash FileList for the PS3's /dev_flash. It should be noted that the PS3 also has a /dev_flash2 and /dev_flash3, which upon rare occasion is updated, however we are not able to access them yet due to some pesky Kernel/Hypervisor issues.
The list is quite juicy, as you can see there are plenty of RCO files, XML files, as well as assets. Even the PS3 Startup sounds are in the flash! Alongside the assets are plenty of SPRX's as well as a few SELF's.
In regards to dev_flash2 + dev_flash3, we can only speculate what is held on there, but the Kernel and HV need to reside somewhere, don't they?

Play. Create. Share. That's the mantra for the LittleBigPlanet team. We know that the "Play" aspect of the game is swell, but what about the creation aspects?
Media Molecule wants to make their creation engine as simple as possible, and they released a few images showing how a deadly crocodile can be constructed using just a few spare parts.
Playing with Legos was always fun, but something of this depth and magnitude has been almost unheard of -- at least for a mainstream audience.
Hopefully, we'll be able to showcase some original creations of our own when we get our hands on with LittleBigPlanet soon.

With the great ongoing work in our PS3 Forums with the RCO files, we are also going to talk about component two of the PS3's XMB includes- its XML Files!
Inside the directory exists 30 XML files. They control quite a bit in regards to the PS3's appearance and functioning, from telling the XMB what types of information to display, all the way to letting you download PlayStation Home!
Do make sure to check out the attached image, as it is code snippets of the XML files we're speaking of below.
For example, in category_game.xml, it appears upon disc insertion, the insertion is added into a database, along with what type of media it's on (CD/DVD/BDVD), and if it detects, what format it is (PS1/PS2/PS3) and so on. Now there are your different media types of course: PS1 CD, PS2 CD, PS2 DVD, PS3 DVD, PS3 BD.

According to Joystiqs sources, Microsoft is cracking open the champagne. The Xbox 360's sales have topped the 10M in the US alone. That's well ahead of the Wii, which stands at 8.8M, and the PS3, which sold 4.1M.
Worldwide, Microsoft says it's sold 19M consoles total. That's behind the Wii's global sales of 25M units, but Microsoft isn't exactly content with second place it's making a point to say that the 360 has the "largest global install base of any current gen, high definition gaming console.".
Meanwhile, the PS3s doing quite nicely for itself as well in addition to outselling the 360 in both the US and Europe, Sony says worldwide sales were up an astounding 156 percent last year with a total of 9.2M units coming off shelves, and that it expects to sell another 10M consoles by March 2009.
Looks like it's going to be an interesting year in the console market.
