“He could see he was about to get involved in another PlayStation cycle, and obviously wanted something new,” we were told. “The same thing was happening again and he’d been through it enough times to want to move on.”
The timing of Harrison’s decision to leave Sony confused many, given that PS3 was finally starting to bloom after a troubled seedling period. The PlayStation front-man announced he was to quit in February, giving no reason for the move.
He immediately joined Infogrames as president, saying he was finding the company’s focus on casual gaming and an increased influence on internet business models “very exciting”.
Bet PS4 doesn't have two HDMI ports either! :P
According to PlayStation Network director Eric Lempel via the PS Blog, PS3 Firmware 2.42 improves the playback quality of some PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation format software.

As many of you may already know or have deduced, the bug in our open letter referred to a way of reading DVD-Rs (and Video DVDs) without the use of a modchip. Several people have investigated the bug independently, and they’ve gotten pretty close. However, we did discover an easier way of enabling this mode from homebrew, which, among other things, does not require any changes to IOS at all. This method is also relatively difficult to transform into some sort of ... More »

Today you will hear about what Final Fantasy 13 will and won't do for the Xbox 360. So sit back, grab a beer or your respective drink, and get ready to read!
4. Final Fantasy WON'T be the saving grace in Japan for the Xbox 360
Final Fantasy does not need to be released in Japan for the sole reason that Xbox 360 in Japan is pretty much the equivalent of finding a VII gaming system in America. In Japan, they don’t want much to do with the Xbox 360. They support their countries products and have no need for a American console with more shoot’em ups that you can shake a stick at. Just take a look at July’s numbers of in Japan.
1. PSP- 56,998
2. Nintendo DS- 48,540
3. Wii- 41,798
4. PS3- 12,458
5. PS2- 10,405
6. Xbox 360- 3,807
If I were in charge of Microsoft, I would have stopped trying to beat that dead horse many days ago.
3. Final Fantasy 11 was on the 360.

PSP hit the scene about three years ago and while it's been evolving into quite a useful handheld, it hasn't quite taken off like Sony would have liked.
But that doesn't mean that it's dying and SCEA Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller insists that sales have been "red hot" in 2008.
PlayStation 3 has also had a healthy rebound this year and Sony plans to integrate the two more as time goes by.
"I think as we go forward, we're going to see a lot more integration with PlayStation 3, particularly as the install base of the PS3 continues to grow stratospherically in many ways, and the integration that is going to occur there is part and parcel of the strategy that the console is the living room hub and really where your entertainment flows," he told IGN.
"Then, your PSP is your digital living room on the go, and being able to access your PS3 in a wide variety of ways is really a key part of our overall branding strategy. Tha... More »

First off, we would like to wish all of our American visitors a very Happy 4th of July 2008 today!
But for more explosive news (who doesn't love a pun?) we recently received two special PS3 PUP files from a VERY nice guy. As pictured below, they are PS3 Debug 1.00 (65.5 MB (68,765,224 bytes)) and PS3 Debug 1.50 (72.2 MB (75,762,080 bytes)).
These PUPs, which are the special downgrade PUPs, allow a user to downgrade their PS3 TEST from any version down to it. For example, with the 1.00 SPECIAL Downgrade PUP a user can be on 2.40, install it, and after a reboot be on 1.00!
1.00, which lacks just about every feature but ON/OFF functionality, will then let us upgrade to any DEV firmware above it.
Which brings us to 1.50... Through examining numerous Sony documentation recently, we have read that in the 1.60 Firmware the PS3's kernel memory and user memory are separated, leading us to believe that the kernel m... More »

An Xbot’s take on why the time is now right for Xbox 360 gamers to seriously consider getting rid of their 360’s and purchasing a PS3
Before beginning this article I would like to make it clear that I’m a confessed Xbot. Even after churning through 3 separate Xbox 360’s due to hardware failure, I have remained loyal to Microsoft and believe that Xbox Live is an amazingly fun service, even worth paying for.
BUT do I really? What has kept me coming back again and again when a normal gamer would have spat the dummy and gotten rid of the Xbox 360 years ago? Why is now the right time to finally break away from Microsoft?
The following reasons are what I believe to be the most compelling as to why my fellow hardcore Xbots should seriously consider taking the plunge and moving over to the PS3.
