Sadly, it is very likely that this game will be remembered for a controversy that dances around a strange decision to remove support for DirectX 10.1 and handed transferred an initial performance advantage for ATI’s Radeon cards over to Nvidia. Did Nvidia have its hands in this one? We looked a bit closer to find out.
In the beginning, everything looked perfect. The DX10.1 API included in Assassin’s Creed enabled Anti-Aliasing in a single pass, which allowed ATI Radeon HD 3000 hardware (which supports DX10.1) to flaunt a competitive advantage over Nvidia (which support only DX10.0).
But Assassin's Creed had problems. We noticed various reports citing stability issues such as widescreen scaling, camera loops and crashes - mostly on Nvidia hardware.

We've got our answer, and it comes in the form of a staggering $110 million damage award, or $30,000 in statutory damages for each of the nearly 3,700 files in the MPAA's complaint.
The MPAA announced the award in a press release (PDF) earlier today.
"This substantial money judgment sends a strong message about the illegality of these sites," said Dan Glickman, Chairman and CEO of the MPAA. "The demise of TorrentSpy is a clear victory for the studios and demonstrates that such pirate sites will not be allowed to continue to operate without facing relentless litigation by copyright holders."
In addition to the damage award, ... More »

Nintendo’s latest entrant into the console war has no doubt been the company’s most successful entry since the original Nintendo Entertainment System in the 80s. The Wii has managed to continually sell out in stores since its release in November of 2006. In just a meager year and half, its already managed to outsell its predecessor, the Gamecube.
It shattered the PS2’s record of selling 10 million consoles in the US by a near 4 months. It currently holds the most market share out of the next gen systems. Nintendo, without a doubt, must be extremely proud of Miyamoto’s latest brain child.
That being said, there is something seriously wrong with the Nintendo Wii. No, its not that it doesn’t have the graphical capabilities of the 360/PS3. Nor is it the lackluster online service Nintendo provides either. It isn’t the paltry amount of hard drive space, sometimes unresponsive accelerometers of the nunchuck, or even the chuckle-inspiring name of the conso... More »

While it was only hearsay and bordering on a rumor earlier today, it is now confirmed that the major update for Team Fortress 2 will not arrive until "early next week."
Valve's Robin Walker kindly responded to my inquiry of whether or not the "rumor" of a delay was true, and that the update would not hit until next week.
Yes, it should be out early next week. -Robin.
Undoubtedly busy, I'd like to thank Mr. Walker for confirming this for us. Expect to see Goldrush and entire teams consisting of Medics starting early next week. The exact day and time are not yet known.

According to numerous reports, release group iCON has leaked the PAL X-Box 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV onto a number of file-sharing Web sites.
It weighs in at 6.32 GB and appears to be the real deal, with unscrupulous individuals now posting gameplay clips on GameTrailers and the like, which will no doubt be swiftly taken down by Take-Two’s legal team soon.
If you do happen to have a modded X-Box 360, we hope that you can wait six more days to purchase the real thing and not resort to illegal activities. :P

Hi there,
The good news is we are planning to send out your copy of GTA IV tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd April, to be with you first thing on Thursday 24th, so the wait is almost over.
In order for us to do that, could you:
- Let us know which format you would prefer to receive the game on?
- Let us know your Gamertag, if the answer to the above is Xbox 360 or your PSN On Line ID if the answer is PS3.
Why we need to know.
Xbox 360 Version
We need your Gamertag because Microsoft will be helping Rockstar Games monitor access to the online modes up to release date. Because of this, we will need to add your Gamertag to the app... More »
