Yes, Relic announced Dawn of War II, and yes, it looks great. It looks as though another Thief’s on the way, and that’s fine. Even news that journalists had been to Konami Japan and finished MGS4 just bounced off the surface.
In the grand scheme of things, it was all filler. Nothing came close to GTA IV’s impending release as an attention generator, nor will it for the foreseeable future.
Last week, GTA IV cemented its place as the most hyped videogame in history. Since last Monday - as we entered April and the title’s launch month - the news merry-go-round and the gaggle that follow it have been talking about little else.
Monday was just ridiculous. The game was rated an 18 by the BBFC, was rumoured for DS and was shown in shots to be running in multiplayer for the first time, screens which were swiftly removed.

Ryoji Chubachi, President and electronics CEO at Sony, made the bold statement during a recent press conference in Taipei, according to a DigiTimes report.
Chubachi claimed that Sony already has 20 per cent of the market. But he aims to boost Sony’s share by 30 per cent through the introduction of more Blu-ray enabled products, such as HD TVs with integrated BD recorders.
The executive also said Sony will extend its focus from Blu-ray players and recorders and the PlayStation 3 out to unnamed IT devices - though the company already offers Vaio PCs with built-in BD drives.
Given the recent death of HD DVD, it’s no surprise that Sony’s predicting such a sharp upturn in consumer interest for Blu-ray. One analyst firm has already forecast that
The price listed is 4499kr, which is the same as the Gran Turismo 5 bundle that launched just over a week ago. While availability in other countries has not been announced, this indicates that the GTA bundle should sell for £299.99 in the United Kingdom and €399.99 elsewhere.

Inspired by last year's death of Toronto taxi driver Tahir Khan, who was hit on a winding ravine road by a teenage street racer with a copy of the video game Need for Speed in his car, German psychologists have compiled the most extensive case yet that racing games cause reckless driving.
Playing such titles as Burnout, Midnight Racer and Need for Speed "increases risk-taking behaviour in critical road traffic situations," the team led by Peter Fischer reports today in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied.
Writing about the Toronto case, in light of earlier examples of people reenacting video game scenarios to lethal effect, such as the Columbine school shootings, Prof. Fischer writes: "What if players of racing games similarly model their actual road traffic behaviour on their behaviour during these games?"
One of the team's experiments largely replicates a survey done last month by BSM, a British driving school.

Scheduled to release in August 2008 on the PC, XBOX 360 & PS3, Highlander: The Game enables gamers to exploit the powers of immortality and manipulate situations that death would normally prevent in order to combat the forces of evil.
We had the opportunity to talk with Gilles Barril, Producer at Widescreen Games as he discusses some of the gameplay elements and storyline packed in the title.
What is it that attracted you to developing Highlander?
One of the most fun aspects of developing Highlander is getting to work with Immortal characters, giving us massive scope in what we can do in terms of the gameplay. The idea of having Immortals that could have had roles in key events of the past is something that really excited us in developing the game, particularly that these Immortals could have potentially shaped his...
