Zen Studios Announces Deadpool is Getting His Own Pinball Table

50°
13w ago - Zen Studios Community Manager Bobby Loertscher announced today that Deadpool is getting his own pinball table with details below.

To quote: After months of coercion, threats, and highly inappropriate late night texts (seriously, Wade, how can you really expect anyone to physically be able to do that with a duck!?), Zen Studios have agreed to create a virtual pinball table for the one and only Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool.

Coming to Zen Pinball 2 NEXT WEEK, the table will offer exciting pinball action, true-to-the-character gameplay, and may actually afford the team at Zen some peace and quiet when it releases.

In all seriousness (well, some seriousness, at least), Zen Studios is extremely excited to be working with the fine folks at Marvel to bring Deadpool fans a pinball experience that is as true to the character as you can get.

Featuring the supreme voice talents of the one and only Nolan North as Deadpool, this table will capture the acerbic, fourth wall-crushing attitude of the character, as well as other supporting characters from the Deadpool universe, including Blind Al, Weasel, Lil' Deadpool, and more. Please humor the Merc with a Mouth by watching the trailer below, will ya?

Zen Studios Confirms CastleStorm is Out Today on PS3 and PS Vita

50°
45w ago - Zen Studios Community Manager Bobby Loertscher confirmed that CastleStorm is out today on PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: If you like building castles, destroying castles, knights, vikings, war, weapons, spells, troops, multiplayer, PS3, PS Vita, cross buy, well... CastleStorm is your game! CastleStorm launches today for both PS3 and PS Vita.

For those of you getting ready to play later today, we thought it would be nice to give you some tips on using the ballista, the primary weapon mounted just above your castle's gate.

Starting out, you'll utilize the low-powered, quick-spawning javelin, while the vikings fire harpoons. As the game progresses, you'll unlock more projectiles for your arsenal and upgrade these with gold you earn during missions.

The javelins and harpoons have the shortest regeneration period and will be your best asset in early levels. Getting five kills at once activates a shooting frenzy, which means you can shoot all projectiles in rapid succession for a few seconds. No regeneration period means you can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time, so don't hesitate to fire away.

While javelins are meant for targeting specific enemies on the ground, the Knights' Apple Grenade can either be used to take out a cluster of oncoming enemies,...

Video: Zen Studios' Marvel Pinball: Civil War in Action on PS3

50°
95w ago - Marvel Studios Manager Chris Baker of Licensed Games has shared a video today showcasing Zen Studios' Marvel Pinball: Civil War in action on the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: For well over two years now, I've had the honor of working with Zen Studios on video pinball tables based on Marvel characters and events. It seems only appropriate that Marvel Pinball: Civil War should release the week of Thanksgiving (as part of PSN's Zen Pinball 2) - 'cause I'm plenty thankful for these guys and everything they've done with Marvel Pinball so far.

Civil War is one of the biggest events ever told in comics, and as you'd suspect, Zen takes representing it in pinball form very seriously. Here are a just a few reasons why you, the fan, will be thankful that's the case...

Whose Side Are You On? No, really... When Zen and Marvel decide what tables to do, it's a truly collaborative process. Sometimes they're Zen's idea initially, sometimes they're ours - it's Avengers-level teamwork, I tell ya!

The idea to do a Civil War table came from us, and with it a mandate: If you choose to do Civil War, you have to let the player decide if he's with Iron Man and Pro-Registration or with Captain America in opposition to the Superhuman Registration Act.

"Whose Side Are You On?"...

Videos: Zen Studios KickBeat Gameplay and Zen Pinball 2 Updates

50°
118w ago - Zen Studios Managing Director Zsolt Kigyossy is here today with a KickBeat PS Vita gameplay video and some Zen Pinball 2 updates from this year's E3 convention.

To quote: Zen Studios is fresh off an exciting and successful E3. Although our presence was modest, we still made a big impact.

KickBeat for PS Vita won Destructoid's Best of Rhythm E3 award, and Zen Pinball 2 was nominated for Best of E3 2012 by IGN and Best Portable Game by Destructoid. We are extremely honored to be included alongside the industry's best!

KickBeat sure received a positive response at E3. We think it's because there is nothing else like it, and a lot of people caught on to that.

There were also some people who simply told us we were crazy when they watched us play, but once they got their hands on the game they had BIG smiles on their faces. We have some new video that was released right before and then during E3, we wanted to make sure you guys got a chance to view as well.

The first video is the intro story chapter to KickBeat, setting up our Kung Fu style cheesy story. All of these story scenes are hand animated, and yes, we hired professional voice actors. As a matter of fact, at least one of the actors we've used came by the Sony booth to say "hi," as they are all from Los Angeles.

Video: Zen Studios Unveil KickBeat, PS Vita Music Combat Game

50°
121w ago - Zen Studios Creative Director Neil Sorens has officially introduced PS Vita music combat game KickBeat today alongside a debut video trailer below!

To quote: Hello, PlayStation fans! I'm very excited to tell you about our new game: KickBeat.

It's a music game; it just doesn't look like one. Check it out, and then after the jump I'll tell you about how it works and some of the development history.

Music games have a long tradition of innovation. From the peripheral-based games like Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution to controller-based ones like Frequency and Patapon, these games allow us to experience music in new and often unexpected ways.

KickBeat follows in the tradition of this type of music game. Although its beat-matching mechanic is not complex and will be familiar to fans of the music game genre, KickBeat does a couple things that make it different from anything else you've played...

And with publishers afraid to do anything except sequels to dance games, what better time than now to give the genre a kick in the pants?
