218w ago - Crytek, the developer of Far Cry and Crysis, announced earlier this month that its in-development multiplatform game engine CryENGINE 3 would be shown off for the first time at Game Developers Conference 2009. Now it's GDC week and we've got an exclusive sneak peek at Crytek's CryENGINE 3 trailer.

According to Crytek, the trailer features both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 footage.

The video is meant as a tech demo only, so the fact that it features nanosuit-clad soldiers from Crysis running around doesn't necessarily mean anything concrete.




It could just be that Crytek recycled some of its existing assets. No titles have been officially announced that will be built on CryENGINE 3 as of yet.

256w ago - A Metal Gear Solid 4 talk and signing event in Tokyo today revealed that Metal Gear Online will be hitting Japan on July 17 for 1,800 yen (about $17).

It was also revealed that "Metal Gear Online gets up to 12,000 people connected simultaneously during peak hours of around 11:00PM."

To quote: During the talk session, Kojima also revealed that in Japan, Metal Gear Online gets up to 12,000 people connected simultaneously during peak hours of around 11:00PM.

He also made first mention of an upcoming worldwide tournament, titled Metal Gear Online World Championship 2008, but stopped short of sharing the specifics.

Pricing and dates for the standalone version of Metal Gear Online in other territories were not announced today.
