Thanks to Evander from NeoGAF, we have some details regarding the popular Kratos sackboy costume for LittleBigPlanet. First of all, the card is given to you immediately when you preorder in-store.

According the GameStop Web site, if you preordered online or you arranged for in-store pickup, your code will be e-mailed to you one week before the game ships. The code must also be redeemed by January 8th, 2009.

Lastly, like PSN games, each code will be associated with a PSN account -- which "allows download of the LittleBigPlanet in-game costume on 5 PS3 systems per account." Too bad you don't get five pouches to share with your friends, huh? To quote:

"Upon receiving your game, follow these instructions closely to download your new costume:

1. Open an account on the PLAYSTATION Network (or use an existing account) on your PS3.
2. From the PLAYSTATION Network icon on the Xross Media Bar, select 'Account Management'.

Sony has added the XMB to its Vaio FW series of Vaio laptops. The laptops also allow the connection or creation of a DNLA server, which the PS3 or PSP can connect to.

To quote: Sony has decided to add the Xross Media Bar (XMB) that has proved so successful in its PlayStation 3 to its new range of Vaio laptops.

The Vaio FW series features Vaio Media+ software, which uses the 'move along, scroll up and down' functionality seen in both the PS3 and the PSP.

Sony clearly believes bringing this kind of synergy to its devices will help create the 'digital living room' all the major brands are gunning for.

The Vaio FW series also allows connection or creation of a DNLA server, which the PS3 or PSP can connect to.

Sony will also bring the same system to future Bravia TVs as it aims to add more functionality to the goggle box too.

If any of you have ever been on any PlayStation-related blog at any point in time since the PS3’s release (and let’s be frank, that’ll be a fair few of you) you’ll have noticed that the demands for an in-game Xross Media Bar have been ever-ongoing.

Every single post on the the PlayStation.blog (still not understanding the need for that dot) has received streams of comments from the rabid PS3 owners complaining about a lack of service and a lack of respect for the consumer base who’ve splashed out several hundred dollars/pounds/Euros/et cetera on their shiny black behemoth.

The thing is, I’m wondering why, as a collective, they don’t seem to have a single brain cell between them to share some sort of common sense when it comes to developing features such as the in-game-XMB, which we’ve just received after months and months of demand. Even after we’ve picked that up, we’re still baying for more. My ultimate slating of PlayStation fanboys con... More »

Sony declares "game on" as Adam Turner discovers the PS3's menu system is now built into Bravia televisions.

The user interface seems to be an afterthought on many consumer electronic devices, but Sony has obviously had its UI boffins working overtime (playing games consoles - nice work if you can get it).

They've decided that the XMB (Xross Media Bar) menu system used by the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable is more friendly that the menus used by Sony's big-arse Bravia LCD televisions, so the new generation of Bravias will utilise the PS3's menu system.

The old Bravias were designed around a standard tree-like menu system, with options opening up to the right as you scroll down through the categories. The Bravia's Xross Media Bar menus are built around a similar concept, the menus are sightly more animated but it still requires you to scroll down through categories as your options pop up on the right.

A reader pointed us to this leaked clip of Lenovo's portable touchscreen internet device. It features "a horizontal PSP Xross Media Bar-like navigation and touch gestures."

Not only can it play back video and audio, it's supposed to have some fancy image drawing or editing and PDF viewing and internet browsing.
