132w ago - Recently we reported on a 3.50 Firmware JailBroken PS3 x3Max video, and today PS3 developer xorloser has commented on the hack, as well as explaining why obtaining the hmac key for PlayStation 3 PUP files will not lead to PS3 Custom Firmware.

To quote from his blog, linked above:

"the hmac key for PUPs doesnt magically allow custom firmware. this is because all of the files that make up the PUP are signed anyway, so you cannot make custom versions of any of those files because you cannot sign them.

as for x3max supposedly working on v3.50, i call fake."

133w ago - As a follow-up to my PS3 Acid CFW XMB XML Hack Pack, today we are happy to announce that we have enabled more PlayStation 3 Debug options in our ongoing PS3 Acid CFW WIP project and posted a video below.

Here are the details from DeViL303 at kbx.org (linked above): As you may know, the Acid CFW project was first released on PS3News.com over a month ago by Cfwprophet, and since then its progress is going like a snowball on a big hill !!

We are working on this continously and even in last few hours Cfwprophet and myself have made some great discoveries with regard to Debug options! More news to come so watch this space for more great info about this Custom Firmware for PlayStation 3!

137w ago - Here is my quick x3Max PS JailBreak clone PS3 modchip review, which I got from their official site linked above.

My story begins as I'm listening to speedcore on my computer and conducting business. Suddenly there's a knock at my door - I peer out the window to see a large van on the street.

I get up and answer the knocking only to discover a lady with a clipboard. She illustrates her desire for my signature and while this is happening I start to remember that I had ordered some samples.

After I politely signed my signature she proceeded to hand me a large DHL bag. We part ways and I enter my computer room, from here I proceed to open the bag only to discover a padded envelope.

I gaze upon it and begin to tear though it and I eventually discover what appears to be my JailBreak sample! Happily I open the resealable plastic, and on my computer I open up PS3News.com eager to write this lovely review!

ANYWAYS! This x3Max JailBreak came in an ugly box which featured a guy with tomato sauce on his face playing his PS3 - I have no idea why they used this, when their Web site has a picture of some hot girl holding a ps3 controller.

142w ago - Today PSGroove via French site Logic-Sunrise.com has posted that the PS JailBreak Cloner x3Max (forerly known as x3JailBreak) is now offering what's called the x3Switch for the PS3 Slim.

To quote: "The x3Max team has noticed an inconvenience PS3 Slim users are facing. Unlike PS3 Fat users, Slim users must unplug their cord every time they want to JailBreak their console.

This is due to the lack of an on off switch on the back of Slim models. However, that inconvenience is eliminated with the arrival of the x3Switch.

The x3Switch is a small device with an on-off switch, that plugs into your PS3 Slim and your power cord. This allows the user to turn off their Slim, prior to JailBreaking, without the need to unplug the cord.
