Or more specifically, no TGS this year. During my check in this morning at Orlando International Airport to head to Tokyo, I reached for my Passport….and it was not there. After turning my luggage inside and out (always fun at 6am in the middle of a terminal) and a flurry of phone calls to the hotel and local authorities, I deduced that it was indeed gone. (If you happened to be wandering through Terminal A this morning, and witnessed a man in a bit of a panic with all of his suitcases completely emptied out, that was me.)
Where was it?
Did I lose it? I doubt it.
Was it stolen? most likely.
Either way, it's not in my possession.
As you probably know, you can’t enter a foreign country without a passport. As such, I had to cancel the Japan portion of my trip. While it is possible to get a passport in a hurry, the timing was not working in my favor: I’d have to travel to the nearest Passport Agency (ironically there is one in Se... More »
Hacker Robinsond has open-sourced the schematics sources and details that are required to make your your own PIC interface required to perform the timing attack that allows you to boot the 1888 base kernel. This means even if you have burned fuses and dont know your CPU key, you can boot to the respective kernel and update the exploitable kernel.

The timing attack is working well now, the software has been released for testing and if no major problems are found then it will be available at the end of the week. The first release will require an Infectus modchip and a "... More »

In related news, according to GamesRadar.com UK high street retailer Argos blames a 'Genuine administrative error' for the broken Halo 3 street date stating:
"Argos would like to make it clear that it does not endorse breaking street dates and continues to be committed to preventing pre-release sales through its stores and web site.
However, we are aware that a genuine administrative error has resulted in a small number of cases where Halo 3 has already been sold. We are currently ensuring that there are no further sales of this product in-store until the official release date, Wednesday 26 September. We have ... More »

Moixa Energy issued a press release which signalled their intent to capture some of the gaming crowd for their AA rechargeable batteries known as USBCELL. The unique batteries are like no other and have an integrated USB connector which allows you to recharge the batteries just by plugging them into any available USB port.
They are pushing abilities such as being able to swap and play all day as you can plug in one set of batteries into your PS3 console while the others are being used in your controller (some non official controllers use AA batteries). Hopefully they won't result in the RRoD on your 360 as their following promotional shot shows...

For Microsoft Xbox 360 owners, Tuesday is Opening Day — the time to skip school, call in sick or take a vacation day for the big game. Halo 3.
The much-anticipated third and final edition in the Halo video game trilogy — about a super-human soldier, Master Chief, fighting against alien races and parasites — will be released at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.
I've already talked to my teachers and got my assignments for Tuesday. I don't plan on going to class," says Dane Mitchell, 20, a Cincinnati State and Community College sophomore.
"I'm going to pick up the game at midnight from GameStop, go to a friend's house, and play it for 36 hours," he says. "That's what we did before, when Halo 2 came out, my senior year in high school. I can't believe my parents let me skip school to play it."
An estimated 4 million copies will be sold in the U.S. in a month, says GamesIndustry.biz. To check out more excuses follow the link to the source above.

Here is a progress update on the first working SATA-PC drive on X-Box 360.. it will hopefully be possible in the future to run a iXtreme variant on this drive.
To quote TMF: The Philips DROM6316 drive is still using x360 retail benq firmware and dvd key. A small modification enables to run backups.
(please don't ask for the firmware, it's not my project and still not finished!!) Eject function is now almost fixed. Open/close tray options also works through dashboard.
Team Bondi must have at least a few people working in their Ultimo, Sydney office, according to a tip we received over the weekend pointing us to a blog with "exclusive" information on the title. From the post:
* The game will be a free-roaming title with a historically-accurate recreation of Los Angeles in 1947.
* Team Bondi has even hired a costume designer to research the clothing of the era so the game's attire can be accurate.
* Aside from main story, side missions will be based on actual cases pulled straight of the newspapers of 1947.
* A US Marine plays a big role in the story.
* Not so exclusive...but LA Noire definitely ain't coming to Xbox 360, the size of the game is an obstacle to this.
It's only a few tidbits, but it's more than we had before. Of note is that another developer is finding DVDs to be too small.
