Wolfenstein: The New Order is Out Today on PS4 and PS3

17w ago - MachineGames Executive Producer Jerk Gustafsson announced that Wolfenstein: The New Order is out today on PS4 and PS3 platforms.

To quote: Wolfenstein, DOOM and Quake are the three games that not only introduced me to gaming, but also to game development. All created by [Register or Login to view links].

By the same company. Think about what these guys made for gaming and did for game development. It's truly remarkable. And the companies and the games that followed; Unreal, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, etc. They all sprung from the same source.

Wolfenstein. A game we grew up playing.

It's surreal that we, [Register or Login to view links], now will be part of that history. And believe me when I say that Wolfenstein: The New Order can't be revolutionary in the sense the previously mentioned games were. Those times have passed.

The leap in technology will never again be as apparent. But I do believe our game stays true to its roots - to its fans - and at the same time manages to follow its predecessors into the future.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is more than the traditional shooter. It's an action-adventure tour de force. This is important to mention. Like I tell my father-in-law, (whose...

A: We're happy to say the game runs at 60 FPS on both consoles, but you'll notice a visual boost for the game on PS4. The PS4 game also has a second screen experience where you can access the game map to find where enemy commanders are lurking, as well as where secrets are located.

Q: How long will the game be roughly, time wise? via [Register or Login to view links]

A: Our extensive...

Video: Stealth vs Mayhem in Wolfenstein: The New Order on PS4, PS3

20w ago - Bethesda Softworks Global Community Lead Matt Grandstaff shared a video today spotlighting stealth vs mayhem in Wolfenstein: The New Order on PS4 and PS3 platforms.

To quote: Are you the sneaky and silent type, or do you prefer your FPS experience to be all run 'n' gun? Wolfenstein: The New Order on PS3 and PS4 presents players will the option of going either route, or paving your own path somewhere between the two.

To discuss tactics, we've got Jerk Gustafsson - executive producer at MachineGames.

As development progressed on Wolfenstein, you incorporated a stealth system centering on the enemy commanders. Can you talk about how that works?

Jerk Gustafsson: Being aware of enemy commanders is an important part of stealth tactics, and also for combat in general. All commanders are equipped with a radio which they use to set off the alarm and call for reinforcements.

Unlocking the first perk within the stealth track enables you to display on-screen commander intel - showing the radio signal status as well as distance to the commander's location.

By silently taking out commanders unnoticed, they will be unable to raise alarms and call for reinforcements. Commanders also have the ability to call a second wave of reinforcements,...

Wolfenstein: The New Order PlayStation 4 Hands on: Old School

50°
29w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill went hands on today with Wolfenstein: The New Order on PlayStation 4 with what he proclaims as 'Old School' details below.

To quote: Wolfenstein: The New Order pits players against seemingly insurmountable odds in a skewed 1960′s where the Nazis conquered the world. An FPS that's old-school in all the best ways, it eschews modern niceties - no recharging shields here - in favor of merciless, finely honed shooting.

Our recent hands-on experiences with the PS4 version pointed to an invigoratingly confident single-player shooter of a distinctly different breed. Case in point: Original FPS hero B.J. Blazkowicz goes to battle with 100 health, which you'll top off by collecting medkits and gorging on food scattered throughout levels.

This traditional damage model combines with modern-day visuals, a surprisingly satisfying story, and strong character progression to create a unique and refreshing take on the genre. Old meets new, but in the best of ways.
