Guide: How to Use Your PS3 Eye as a Webcam for Windows PC

550°
130w ago - This weekend fl1pp13 has shared a guide on Dutch site PS3-Sense.nl (linked above) on how to use your PS3 Eye from the PlayStation 3 entertainment system as a Webcam for a Windows PC.

Download: PS3Eye Camera Setup v2.1.0.0130 (for the required PS3EyeTest.exe) / CL Eye Driver v4.0.2.1017

To quote, roughly translated: It is now increasingly common for laptops have a built-in webcam. Because of this chat is becoming increasingly popular.

Not everyone has the money for a laptop or an external webcam. But what if you already have the PlayStation Eye? For several months, this one with some special drivers to get working on almost every version of Windows.

The webcam has pretty good specs, but for the experts among us we have a list:

• 4 channel audio input:16 bits/channel, 48kHz, SNR 90db - 4 channel audio input: 16 bits / channel, 48kHz, SNR 90dB
• 56º or 75º Field of View zoom lens - 56 º or 75 º Field of View zoom lens
• 2.1 F-stop, less than 1% distortion, fixed focus (25cm to 8 at 75 º FOV)
• 640 x 480 at 60 frames/second - 640 x 480 at 60 frames / second
• 320 x 240 at...

FFXIII Showing at E3, Huge Posters in LA and US Release Window

400°
208w ago - Square Enix members has finally had an update which shows the construction of some huge Final Fantasy XIII advertisements in LA, GTA style.

The posters clearly read "COMING 2010", which was fairly predictable. This also a nod towards an appearance at E3 and according to their post, they have "big things" planned.

To quote: Vanille, Snow, and Lightning from FINAL FANTASY XIII! Oh yes we did. A beauty, isn't it? We've been anxiously waiting for this day for months now, and to watch it finally materialize is a great feeling to say the least.

These photos were taken a few days ago, but it is now completed. If you're in the area, we suggest you go to the corner of S. Figueroa Street and Olympic Boulevard in Downtown Los Angeles, and look up. You really have to see it for yourself.

With E3 right around the corner, it's pedal-to-the-metal mode for us here at Square Enix, which means very late nights (or early mornings, depending on how you see it) and more fast food than you can imagine. There are some big things planned for you, so we're all excited about this year's E3. We've got a great lineup of products to show and word in the office is that our booth will be quite the sight.

No, I take that back. It's going to be AWESOME. It's a shame that we won't be able to share...

Eidos confirms Tomb Raider: Underworld release window

100°
256w ago - The upcoming game Tomb Raider: Underworld will be released on November 2008 according to Eidos. The game focuses on the underworld adventures of Lara, and I hope that this will be a good release like the other Tomb Raider releases...

To quote: Eidos Interactive has revealed that the upcoming Tomb Raider: Underworld will be released in November 2008.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics, the eighth instalment in the popular adventure series will once again pit gamers in the shoes of Lara Croft, as she embarks on an investigation into a series of ruins in Southern Mexico.

Here, Croft inadvertently stumbles across a portal to the underworld dimension, Xibalba, which opens during the five days of Wayeb on the Maya calendar. The game will also allow players to visit locations such as Australia, Easter Island, and Rome, with areas set "in places no-one has seen for centuries."

Underworld will feature a host of new features over its predecessor, including interactive environments, dynamic lighting and weather effects, enhanced visuals, as well as all-new manoeuvres for Croft to perform.

Tomb Raider: Underworld is due out on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox 360 DS and Wii.
