This week marks the end of the brutal end-of-year release period. We're ending on a high note with Prince of Persia's worldwide release.
We've been looking forward to this one for quite some time, so hopefully it'll live up to expectations. Here's the full release list:
US Games
• SingStar ABBA
• Prince of Persia (free Limited Edition upgrade)
EU Games
• Prince of Persia
• Brain Challenge
Asian Games
• Brain Challenge
• Prince of Persia
• Pro Yakyuu Spirits 5 Kanzenban
• Saints Row 2
PS3 games are region free, so go ahead and import any games you fancy. Try to keep in mind, however, that DLC is always region locked. So your US game will only read content downloaded from the US PSN Store.
Finally, Prince of Persia has been confirmed to have DLC coming in the future. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so ch... More »
Earlier this week, Famitsu Weekly confirmed that a demo of Capcom's highly anticipated Resident Evil 5 would be coming to the Japanese XBox Live Marketplace on December 5.
Confusion arose as to whether the demo would be limited to Japan and only the XBox Live Marketplace.
Capcom, however, has confirmed that the demo will be appearing on both the PSN and XBox Live Marketplace, and in all major regions as well.
The demo, however, will not be launching simultaneously worldwide, and as of right now, there is no word on the western release date.
As reported a few days ago, PlayStation.com is telling us that the latest firmware for the PlayStation 3 should be available to download. To quote:
"An update to the PS3™ system software was released on November 26, 2008. You can use this update to upgrade your system software to version 2.53."
Well, at least it was until a few hours ago - the info seems to have been mysteriously taken down now.
The PS3 firmware, version 2.53, is supposed to include fullscreen Flash support among other features, which could come in handy for streaming videos on your massive telly and stuff.

We love hard drives. When your home console is strapping a big arsed HDD you don't have to leave Alex Kidd on overnight, you don't have to remember sixty-two digit save passwords, and you no longer have to mourn the death of an 8 MB memory card as if it was a family member.
Make no mistake fellow gamers, hard drives rock. Even still, if you had have told us in 2005 that three years later we'd be complaining about 'only having’ 20 gigs of space for our Xbox 360, we would have built a time machine to travel forwards in time to knee ourselves in the groin.
But times they do a-change, especially when you're talking storage. HDD sizes always increase at a frantic rate, and their prices can change just as quick. Just ask one of your PC gaming buddies - you know, the bloke you stay friends with because he has sixteen terabytes of porn - he'll set you straight on the virtues of having HDD space to spare.
Now that the DLC era is fully upon us, it’s be... More »
Superman fans can now rejoice, as we received word that the new Superman Doomsday is now available (as of November 25, 2008) on DVD, Special Edition, and Blu-ray Disc.

The world collectively mourns their fallen hero; humanity realizes it will never feel truly safe again. Superman's enemies rejoice all but Lex Luthor, who grieves the loss in his own demented manner, setting off a c... More »
