145w ago - It's been quite some time since the last Nintendo Wii leak we reported on, and recently some more Wii RVT Dev Tools have leaked to the Internet from release group OneUp including the System Menu Changer Disk and more!

152w ago - Today Nintendo has released Wii System Menu version 4.3, which like past updates isn't homebrew friendly, and so Waninkoko has released a new Firmware Updater to allow users to update their Wii consoles without jeopardizing homebrew channel applications.

Below are the changes Wii System Menu v4.3 introduces:

• Deletes the Homebrew Channel and DVDX, title IDs HAXX, DVDX, JODI, DISC, and DISK.
• Now uses IOS80.
• IOS254 stubbed BootMii is deleted.
• Fixed Bannerbomb less stupidly this time.
• Added IOS58.
• HackMii Installer Userland+Syscall IOS exploit removed
• ES_AddTitleFinish now checks the signature (Trucha Bug Restorer and similar won't work anymore)

Those who didn't use Waninkoko's application above may encounter "Wii Error:004". According to Nintendo, this error code indicates the system is attempting to load unauthorized software....

190w ago - It appears Nintendo has released another Wii System Menu update today to version 4.2.

Like previous updates, this latest revision will both delete and block Wii homebrew... and in some cases destroy consoles, so be aware of this before updating your console.

It's also a mandatory update in order to access the Wii Shop Channel.

To quote: "I have NO idea why Nintendo loves to send me those update messages at midnight... alas, they keep doing it. Anyway, this time it was to let us know that the Wii has a System Update waiting: Firmware 4.2.

Now, the weird thing is, Nintendo hasn't even announced this yet! That's right, it just hits your system and no official release is made.

As such, there is not much information on what exactly this 4.2 update does exactly... Obviously, it attempts to override any form of hacking, homebrewing, or illegal software loaders (and according to reports, it does so fairly well, deleting the ever-famous Homebrew Channel and all custom IOS installed in tampered Wiis)."

200w ago - Version 4.1 of the System Menu for the Nintendo Wii was released on July 3rd, 2009 in Japan, and now it's available in America and Europe.

Apparently, there is a bugfix whereby if a VC/WiiWare game is played from SD, and then Wii Sports Resort is played, it forces you to watch the motionplus tutorial, although it was meant to be only watched once, on the first run.

Wiimpersonator log - what is "HCCJ"?

HCCJ is a japan exclusive channel. Someone else can explain what, I don't want to look through my logs.

Apparently named "Set Personal Data" from what I can see, and is a hidden channel.

Nothing has been broken with this update, bannerbomb works fine, using the hackmii installer to install the likes of the HBC is fine, so no need to worry.

202w ago - Nintendo released a Wii Firmware update, version 4.1 today in Japan.

A bug fix to Wii Sports Resort, in which after playing a WiiWare/VC game off the SD card, and then playing Wii Sports Resort afterward, you would be forced to watch the how-to Wii Motion Plus video that normally plays only once on the initial play of Wii Sports Resort.

The usual warnings apply, updating is not recommended until more information is known about its effects on homebrew.
