E3 2009: Wii Fit Plus is Officially Announced

267w ago - Wii Fit Plus has been announced by Nintendo for the Wii. It will ship this Fall with the Wii Fit Board or just the disc itself.

Many new games have been added to this game such as six new Yoga moves, a choice of which body parts you want to exercise and can now count your calories.

The biggest new game will be a game where you will feel what it is like to be Mario.

To quote: Cammie Dunaway has just announced Wii Fit Plus at Nintendo's E3 presser.

There's locker room added, and you can be your own personal trainer. It will include 15 new balance games, too.
 

Nintendo's Wii Fit Says Happy April Fools Day 2009

276w ago - Kotaku has reported today that Nintendo's Wii Fit is wishing users a Happy April Fools Day 2009 today as follows:

This is pretty neat. Booting up your copy of Wii Fit today will earn you a couple of pretty obvious April Fool's jokes.

Reader Andrew shipped us these two pictures, one showing the Wii Fit claiming that it's broken and another hinting that the Wii Fit may lie about your Body Test results.

Can you imagine if all electronics took today seriously? We'd be in a world of hurt.
 

Wii Wheel and Wii Fit board combo racing experiment

316w ago - Mike Sylvester over at Wiifanboy has been experimenting with glovepie scripting to come up with a way of using your wii wheel and fit board to control your favorite racing sims on the PC.

To quote: This is a test of how the Wii Balance Board and Wii Wheel are working as game controllers through GlovePIE and PPJoy. This is the basis for the Wii Racing Xperiment.

In the second video, the Wii Balance Board and Wii Wheel are used to play the PC version of Need for Speed ProStreet. GlovePIE and PPJoy are used for controller emulation with full analog steering, braking, and throttle.








 

Wii Fit causes over 20 Million GBP in damage to homes

317w ago - There's no doubting that Wii Fit has helped many a gamer get back into shape since its release, but a new poll by woman-only insurance firm Sheila's Wheels has discovered that users of the software have caused upwards of £20 million GBP damage to their homes whilst exercising on the Balance Board.

Nearly one in five of the 1,000 women polled admitted to causing accidents while using Wii Fit, including bumping into furniture, smashing flowerpots, banging their heads and of course, pulling muscles.

A whopping 86 per cent of those surveyed said that they either already owned Wii Fit or planned on buying it. See? We told you Wii Fit was a risk to your health. :P
 

Wii Fit tells 11 year old she is Overweight

320w ago - The BBC reports on an 11 year old girl who's parents are unhappy that Wii Fit has called her overweight.

They are arguing that the BMI calculation used in the game is perhaps not the best method of judgement of weight and that impressionable children may be given the wrong message about their body image.
