Yah, the new Portal is bright- it's a stock theme and if it floats we will customize it later. Our Forums are also back online and brighter too, again another stock style which will likely be updated once we have some freetime.

Our Staff isn't the only one who can post news here now, anyone can and link to their own page with the related files, etc in their articles. This is now a community effort to keep people updated on the latest PS3 and other news that would interest techies and gamers alike.

If you like an article then leave a comment (requires a new registration) or vote for it by clicking the button on the left. Those with the most votes remain on the main Site News page longer and will also appear on the Top Today tab above.

Finally, we have a lot more to do before this is done (for example, move this from /new/ on the server and fix some sub-domain stuff) so please bear with us over the next few days and th... More »

Catching up a tad on news, we received word on this new and exciting project- FREEVAST! For those who don't know, PS2 VAST (video below) is essentially an ELF file with an altered magicgate header so it can launch the exploit to run the executable. The manufacturer wants you to pay for the hardware containing this file, however, sceners seem to know better and apparently good things come to those who wait... so save your money and keep checking the FREEVAST site! :)

Sony's official confirmation of LocoRoco PS3 came quietly as part of a post E3 Japanese product announcement event. Today, thanks to the latest issue of Famitsu, we have a few new details on the game, which is officially known in Japan as Oiedeyo LocoRoco!! Boo Boo Cocoreccho!

Some rumors have popped up suggesting that this PS3 version of LocoRoco is actually just a fancy wallpaper program. This doesn't seem to be the case, as the game is listed in Famitsu as an action title, complete with online rankings.

There are some major differences from the PSP version. You take control this time of a butterfly, or perhaps a group of butterfiles, known as Cocoreccho. By pressing the circle button, you can make the Cocoreccho shout boo boo. This makes the sleeping LocoRoco in your area wake up and come to you. Your goal is to lead the LocoRoco to the stage's goal.

The game's title, incidentally, tells the whole story. Boo Boo is what Cocoreccho say to... More »

A buddy at eXtreme-Mods.com let us know they are now selling their well-established Web site on E-Bay! For anyone who may be interested, the site has been in business for 7 years (going on 8 yrs) and is currently earning between $40-50k+ per month in total sales volume. They have over 37,000 customers, and have had more than 30 million (front page) unique visitors since 2003. Finally, they are offering the new buyer 30 days worth of support- very sad to see them go, but with the recent raids we can't blame them. :/

Konami managed to pump out the first four Silent Hill games in five years, so what the hell is taking Silent Hill 5 so long? Discounting the critically mixed movie by Brotherhood of the Wolf director Christophe Gans (who isn't coming back for the proposed sequel), it's been a whopping four years since gamers have entered the town of Silent Hill, but that's about to change next fall with Silent Hill 5.

In the newest issue of EGM, on shelves September 4 and rolling out to subscribers now, Shane Bettenhausen goes behind-the-scenes to get the scoop on Silent Hill 5, currently in development at American studio The Collective (best known for beat 'em up Buffy the Vampire Slayer, last seen adapting the not-so-hot The Da Vinci Code), with series composer Akira Yamaoka providing the soundtrack and consulting on the game's look and feel.

Yamaoka finds the switch ironic, as Silent Hill was their attempt "at making classic American horror through a Japanese filter," where... More »

Any salad eaters here? Not a big fan of them myself, but saw this today for those who are:

  • Taco Bell's Fiesta Salad® — 840 calories and 45 grams of fat
  • Macaroni Grill's Chicken Caesar Salad® — 920 calories and 69 grams of fat
  • Panera's Bistro Steak Salad® — 630 calories and 58 grams of fat
  • Applebee's Grilled Steak Caesar Salad® — 1,190 calories and 75 grams of fat

Compare the salads above to the infamous McDonald's Big Mac®, which has 540 calories and 29 grams of fat. :p

  • There is a video floating around the net of a possible PS3 loader loading from the OtherOS function and works on latest firmware. Apparently, the team haven't released it yet as it has issues with the latest games that require >1.7 firmware.

Is it real? Who knows. No doubt the video will be picked to bits until the release date.

I for one, hope it turns out to be real.

Nathan Hull writes that PS3 could actually be beneficial to your child, teaching them various aspects of life and not just acting as a mindless pastime. Hull argues that RPG's can teach children various lessons about social interaction and certain titles may spark up a strong interest in history. He concludes that the PS3 can provide a child with much more than just entertainment and shouldn't be dismissed by parents.

To quote from part of the article: Video games can increase a child’s interest in new things. Video games can open a child up to developing an interest in new things. For example, say your child is playing a video game where they get to become part of an ancient Greek civilization.

This could not only lead them to become more interested in world history, but also mythology as well should the Gods and Goddesses of Mount Olympus play a part in the game.

Developing new interests can make a child feel more confident about the... More »
