33w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton has outlined Puppeteer for the PS3 today, which blends the best of of both the East and West!
To quote: In last week's behind the scenes Puppeteer interview, we talked to creator Gavin Moore about the origins of the title and got some lovely insight into what makes a great kids game really sing.
In the second part of the interview, Gavin touched on the game's size, its roots in classic platformers of yesteryear and what the development team's vibrant cultural mix brings to the project.
Read on for more on Sony Japan Studio's tantalizing platformer, and look for a new update on development - penned by Gavin himself - next week.
Fred Dutton, PlayStation.Blog Europe Manager: So, is Puppeteer a Japanese game or a Western game?
Gavin Moore, Puppeteer Creator: It's really interesting actually. I've seen people have arguments in the office about this - "It's Western," "No, it's Japanese" and so on.
The Western people tend to say it's Japanese, and the Japanese people tend to say it's Western. It's a game, guys - it doesn't matter!
But I'd say it's in the middle. Most of the team are Japanese - probably 95%. But obviously, as the director, the guy in charge, with all that Englishness in...
58w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman goes hands-on today with the Wild Wild West Starhawk Campaign with details below!
To quote: Though legions of bloodthirsty PSN warriors have plunged into Starhawk's multiplayer beta, the single-player campaign has remained stubbornly cloaked in shadow.
Until now: At a media event in New York City this week, Lightbox Interactive finally gave a peek under that cloak, showcasing a series of frantic battles and lush cinematic sequences from the game's story-driven campaign.
As Emmett Graves, an interstellar mercenary infected by a priceless but mutagenic resource dubbed "Rift energy," you'll use the game's dramatic Build and Battle combat system to call down turrets, walls, vehicles and structures from outer space.
Your objective is to defend the frontier town of White Sands from marauding Outcast invaders -- including your Rift-possessed outlaw brother Logan.
Starhawk's Western-tinged story is told through lavishly illustrated cut-scenes that weave in and out of the gameplay, seamlessly connecting the action sequences and, better still, cutting between-mission load times to the bone.
I sampled several minutes of the campaign and was pleased to discover a fast-paced yet strategic sandbox shooter that...

138w ago - Namco Bandai Games America Brand Manager Laili Bosma has shared a video today showcasing Enslaved: Odyssey to the West PS3 alongside a Q&A session, as follows:
Recently we began a Q&A segment, and we're never ones to shy away from a great opportunity, so here are the answers to some of the questions we've received.
What gameplay elements in Enslaved will help players become as emotionally invested in Trip as we will be in Monkey?
Now that you've played the demo, you've probably seen how Trip and Monkey meet. Their relationship starts out as a harsh one; Trip hacks a slave headband and places it on Monkey's head. If he tries to leave her or leave her in danger, then he feels the consequences. Basically if she dies, he dies.
But despite the intensity of this initial meeting, you'll learn over the course of the story that Trip has her own motivations, fears, and complexities. She's not a weak woman by any stretch of the imagination.
And as she and Monkey take their journey to the West, they also begin to bond and learn more about one another. As much as this is about a physical journey, the characters are also taking an emotional one as well.

To quote: Ninja Theory has upped their game with ENSLAVED: Odyssey to the West, with their development focus on merging story-telling and gameplay.
ENSLAVED features a rich narrative, deep and believable characters, some of the best talent in the video game, music and motion picture industries, and a production value that's second to none. It also combines puzzle-solving, combat and platforming to keep the gameplay varied and intriguing.
ENSLAVED: Odyssey to the West takes place 150 years in the future, after several wars have obliterated nearly all of the planet's population. In this post-apocalyptic future, mysterious slave ships harvest remaining survivors and take them out west, for unknown reasons.
You'll take on the role of Monkey, a loner who has spent his whole life on the run. Monkey finds himself captured by one of the slave ships and uses his brute force to break free from his cell. Meanwhile, he notices a young girl named Trip who uses more refined hacking skills to also break free, though she inadvertently sets the ship on a crash course...
