Sony Officially Welcomes PS Certified Devices to PlayStation Mobile

94w ago - Sony European Product Manager Mayumi Donovan has officially welcomed PS certified devices to PlayStation Mobile, which goes live today!

To quote: PlayStation Mobile goes live today, delivering exciting bite-sized games to both PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Certified devices through PlayStation Store.

PlayStation Mobile offers an enticing entry point into the PlayStation world to all owners of a PS Certified smartphone or tablet, while giving PS Vita gamers the chance to expand their collection with a host of innovative, affordable titles.

All you need to get started is a Sony Entertainment Network account and a compatible device (full list [Register or Login to view links]).

If you're using a PS Vita, a new PlayStation Mobile tab will appear in the Store. If you're using a smartphone or tablet, you can access the store through the dedicated "PlayStation Mobile for Android" app.

To quote: WipEout 2048 on PS Vita takes us 36 years into the future, offering a glimpse at the birth of anti-grav racing - a fictional sport that has become synonymous with PlayStation.

To quote: PlayStation is just days away from embarking on another historic console journey with the launch of PS Vita - the most ambitious entertainment device you've ever held in your hands.

Zipper Welcomes SOCOM 4 PS3 Back, Free Maps and Weapons!

164w ago - Zipper Interactive Senior Community Manager Jeremy Dunham has welcomed fans back to SOCOM 4 on the PS3 today and announced they are issuing free maps and weapons to PlayStation Plus users.

To quote: We're very happy today to announce that SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs is now offering free maps and weapons to all PS Plus users!

You might remember that we gave away the classic SOCOM map "Abandoned" and a couple of exclusive shotguns as an incentive to pre-order the game through GameStop. All PlayStation Plus users can now download "Abandoned" and the shotguns free for the next month!

For those of you without Plus yet, don't worry-your time will come shortly. Recall the blog announcement a couple weeks back announcing that, as a token of appreciation, the PlayStation Network will be giving all users 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership, coming soon. After a month of PlayStation Plus availability, "Abandoned" and the shotguns will continue to be available for SOCOM Pro members.

Sony Welcomes Back PSN with a Killzone 3 Double XP Weekend

166w ago - Inline with the COD Black Ops Double XP weekend announcement comes another for Killzone 3 on the PlayStation 3 entertainment system!

To quote from Killzone's Community Editor Victor Zuylen on the event news: To celebrate the return of the PlayStation Network and welcome you back to Killzone 3's online battlefield, we've got a Double XP Weekend lined up!

Starting this Friday, May 20 at 17:00 PM UK time, and lasting until Monday, May 23 at 10:00 AM UK time, all XP you earn in Killzone 3's multiplayer matches will be doubled.

The upcoming Double XP Weekend isn't the only Killzone-related goodie in the pipeline. As you may know, Sony has revealed that Killzone: Liberation is part of its Welcome Back Program for PSN members, meaning you'll be able to download the critically acclaimed PlayStation Portable shooter absolutely free of charge. And there's even more... But we'll announce that at a later date.
