209w ago - As you may or may not have heard, all of the Xbox 360 exclusive downloadable content for Fallout 3 will be coming to the PS3 this summer, thereby making the Xbox 360 exclusive DLC not Xbox 360 exclusive at all.
Timed exclusive? Whatever, that doesn't mean anything to me.
In addition, however, two new chunks of DLC are coming to both platforms, though the 360 gets it first... again. So you might think to yourselves, dear PS3 owners, that you've waited long enough and want to buy that DLC right away. But not so fast!
The DLC is only going to start trickling out this summer, the two new pieces actually hitting in the fall. As it turns out, a Game of the Year edition is also coming out in the fall, October to be more specific, and it's going to have all five DLCs in one package. If you've managed to hold out this long, you might as well just wait and get the GOTY edition.
As an expert calculator user, I can tell you that five pieces of DLC at $10 apiece is $50, and that's on top of buying the game in the first place. Trade that game in, however, (or sell it) and you'll likely make up the $10 difference. This gets you all of the DLC without taking up precious hard drive space, and it doesn't cost you anything more than if you downloaded it all separately.
233w ago - In a recent study, it was unveiled that this year Square Enix's sales were down by 74%. This was partly because the bulk of Crisis Core's Japanese sales came in 2007, but it still performed well when it was released in other regions earlier this year.
The main reason for Square Enix's lacklustre sales this year is the absence of any other strong titles, which is where Dissidia: Final Fantasy comes in.
Since it was initially announced, Dissidia has intrigued nearly all fans of Final Fantasy. This is because Dissidia is a celebration of 20 years of Final Fantasy and it will include characters from all twelve of the games which make up the main series. So, even if you only liked one game in the franchise, it will still be featured.
The other reason is because it's not an RPG, but a fighting game. Ehrgeiz was released some years ago and only featured characters from Final Fantasy VII, but now players will get the chance to see who really is the best protagonist in Final Fantasy history.
Many critics initially had doubts about Dissidia's credentials, as there was no evidence to suggest that Square Enix could actually make a game in this genre work. However, once they...
266w ago - I got my copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for the PS3 today. I've been anxiously awaiting this title for a while, as I've been a huge fan of the series and racing games in general.
So when I put the game in my PS3, I was more than ready to race. Here's a breakdown of what happened:
-9:24pm - Loaded the game, started the install process
-9:37pm - Install ended (13 minutes total, using 5349MB)
-9:38pm - Began downloading the game update
-9:42pm - Error occurred during download, had to start over
-9:44pm - Began downloading the game update... again
-9:51pm - Update finished, needed to hold the PS button to quit the game
-9:52pm - Restart game, going through menus
-9:53pm - Begin car shopping (you have to buy a car first with the 35k credits you have before you can race)
-10:01pm - Bought car after looking for a while for what I can afford (settled on Mazda RX-8)
-10:07pm - Finally finished first single player race (2:52 total race time)
So as you can see, if you get the Blu-Ray version of the game, it's going to take you an absurd amount of time sitting there doing nothing waiting to actually play the game. Seriously, this is just ridiculous. It took 40 minutes before I was able to actually play the game.
