44w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has interviewed Creative Director Ed Boon of NetherRealm Studios on DC Fighter today!
Below is the interview, to quote: During EVO 2012, I got a rare opportunity to chat with Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat and creative director for Injustice: Gods Among Us.
Though NetherRealm Studios' latest title wasn't playable at the show, Boon walked me through his vision for the DC-themed fighter, his overall plans for NetherRealm Studios, and some key changes he's bringing to the fighting game formula.
PlayStation.Blog: It strikes me that Superman looks awfully aggressive in Injustice. His cape is torn, he looks upset. What's up with Supe?
Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios: We haven't released many details on the story... but I can say that it's very observant of you. Our Superman isn't quite the same Superman that you grew up with.
We definitely want to give a more contemporary, NetherRealms spin to the character, and he plays a big part in the story. People will definitely be surprised by this rendition of Superman. We'll be revealing more details with Comic-con, PAX, Gamescom, and so forth.

To quote: In my 20 years in the industry, I have never had an experience like the one working on Shadows of the Damned.

The concept of light and dark as a metaphor for good and evil is an old one, but the Light and Dark gameplay in Shadows of the Damned takes it to a whole new level. It is less literal, but rather metaphorical, in the pain and torment that is caused to our hero.
As for gameplay, the player should not take the approach of "shoot anything that moves". Each environment and enemy will require a thoughtful approach in order to progress. Usually, darkness is lethal to the player, but sometimes may be required in order to expose an enemy's weakness.
Each situation is different and the player must build upon the earlier concepts encountered in order to defeat the tougher enemies deeper in the game. Shadows of the Damned is the thinking...
