22w ago - Sony Product Manager Ken Chan posted up a video today inviting fans to be the first to drive the Mercedes AMG Vision GT in Gran Turismo 6 on PlayStation 3.

To quote: With two short weeks away from the launch of GT6, we are excited to unveil the first Vision GT project - the Mercedes- Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo, made specifically for everyone to virtually experience on 12/6.

Gran Turismo 6 players will soon be able to choose an alternative version of the virtual Mercedes-Benz super sports car. The "Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series" offers further enhancements over the regular show car which was presented as physical 1:1 model in California.

To ensure perfect downforce and great handling stability in tough racetrack conditions on PlayStation 3, the Racing Series has a fixed rear spoiler while the show car version has an extending variant of this integrated into the boot lid.

In addition, the third brake light in the middle of the rear end lights up in red as the Gran Turismo logo, unmistakably confirming the identity of the high-performance gullwing racer. Visitors of the LA Autoshow were the first to drive this car virtually in Gran Turismo 6 next to the 1:1 show car at the Mercedes-Benz booth.

92w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has interviewed Creative Director Ed Boon of NetherRealm Studios on DC Fighter today!

Below is the interview, to quote: During EVO 2012, I got a rare opportunity to chat with Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat and creative director for Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Though NetherRealm Studios' latest title wasn't playable at the show, Boon walked me through his vision for the DC-themed fighter, his overall plans for NetherRealm Studios, and some key changes he's bringing to the fighting game formula.

PlayStation.Blog: It strikes me that Superman looks awfully aggressive in Injustice. His cape is torn, he looks upset. What's up with Supe?

Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios: We haven't released many details on the story... but I can say that it's very observant of you. Our Superman isn't quite the same Superman that you grew up with.

We definitely want to give a more contemporary, NetherRealms spin to the character, and he plays a big part in the story. People will definitely be surprised by this rendition of Superman. We'll be revealing more details with Comic-con, PAX, Gamescom, and so forth.

PSB: Superman, for me, has never...

Shadows of the Damned: A New Vision of Hell Hits PS3 Today

100°
148w ago - Electronic Arts Senior Producer Steve Matulac has announced that Shadows of the Damned: A New Vision of Hell hits PS3 today.

To quote: In my 20 years in the industry, I have never had an experience like the one working on Shadows of the Damned.

First off, I spent the majority of last year living in Japan and onsite with the developer; Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture. It was a great experience living in Tokyo and working alongside the great team at Grasshopper Manufacture.

The concept of light and dark as a metaphor for good and evil is an old one, but the Light and Dark gameplay in Shadows of the Damned takes it to a whole new level. It is less literal, but rather metaphorical, in the pain and torment that is caused to our hero.

As for gameplay, the player should not take the approach of €shoot anything that moves€. Each environment and enemy will require a thoughtful approach in order to progress. Usually, darkness is lethal to the player, but sometimes may be required in order to expose an enemy€s weakness.

Each situation is different and the player must build upon the earlier concepts encountered in order to defeat the tougher enemies deeper in the game. Shadows of the Damned is the thinking...

Radical: Original Prototype Too Huge, Delay Helped Realize Vision

100°
260w ago - The bad: Radical€s open-world, anti-superhero blockbuster Prototype has been heavily delayed. The good: it€s now been polished to buggery and pulled back to a more manageable €vision€.

To quote: €The extra dev time from last year really was a chance for us to polish, tweak and refine the missions and gameplay mechanics,€ executive producer Tim Bennison told VG247.

€The original vision for the game was huge, perhaps a little too huge, so the extra time in development has let us realize that vision.€

The game was originally to release in autumn last year, but was pushed into 2009 last May. It was one of the Vivendi survivors of the Actvision Blizzard merger.

€We€re really excited to launch Prototype in June €" it€s certainly been a big project for the entire company here at Radical,€ Bennison added.
