For those unfamiliar with Hotline Miami, it's the debut commercial effort of prolific indie developer Jonatan Soderstrom and artist/designer Dennis Wedin. Hotline Miami almost immediately garnered praise from both gamers and press for its distinct visual presentation, driving soundtrack, breakneck action, and schizophrenic narrative that leaves players with more questions than answers.

Since then the game has won awards from IGN, Destructoid, Machinima, and Indiecade culminating with a nomination for the Independent Games Festival's Grand Prize.

PlayStation Game Runners is an experimental project where PlayStation, members of the public and young people from diverse backgrounds come together to create social games. We at PlayStation believe that the best games are played as a group.

The project has been developed by PlayStation and Hide & Seek with a team of eight initial Game Runners who have been picked to train as game designers and work to make the games relevant.

There are three games in development: Flags, Blocks and Hoops. The games are in prototype stage and there will be a series of playtests to develop the games. You can get involved in PlayStation Game Runners, where you can learn about the different games, meet the Game Runners and get involved. To quote: This winter, the game industry -- developers, publishers, retailers, et al -- will face the single biggest legal challenge that such entertainment, broadly, has ever been up against and in the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS).

The State of California had appealed the U.S. Ninth Circuit decision to strike down the so-called CA "video game violence" law in Schwarzenegger v EMA, which every court had done in every such "violent video game" case. But this time was different; For the first time, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to review the case (via "accepting certiorari" aka "cert").

To be blunt, none of us expected it and we were all taken back by the decision. Just 1% of cases filed are granted cert -- one percent!
