87w ago - SCEA PR Manager Eric Levine has shared a new Ride, Die, and Fly Starhawk vehicle trailer for PlayStation 3 fans today!
To quote: With just over a month until our May 8th release, the time to fully experience the virtual glory that is Starhawk is rapidly approaching.
We figured what better way to raise the excitement level than to give you a first-hand look at some of the different vehicle options you'll have at your disposal when this innovative third-person shooter hits stores next month.
We've said from the very beginning that Starhawk will have a broad range of intense air, ground, and vehicular combat so I think our new Ride, Die, and Fly trailer will certainly drive that point home.
First up is the Sidewinder JetBike - basically a quick-strike hoverbike that's very fast, perfect for crazy jumps and a lot of fun to drive.
Next, the Razorback, which is similar to a buggy vehicle, a sturdy 4x4 that carries up to three players and comes with a mounted gun on the back, perfect for picking off Outcast scum in a hurry.
The Ox Heavy Tank is one of my favorites. The name basically says it all, right? It's a burly vehicle that's great for bombarding bases. It's...
91w ago - CCP Community Manager CmdrWang has introduced some new Dust 514 vehicle roles and characteristics today to fans.
To quote: Since DUST 514 traces its lineage to EVE Online, we wanted to give it the same rich combat environment that EVE Online has when it comes to vehicle classes and roles.
For example, in EVE Online there are ships that share the same hull (and thus the same look) but have very different performance envelopes. This will be true in DUST 514 as well with vehicles that will share the same chassis or hull class but depending on their roles and level of technology, offer very different battlefield characteristics.
Another key aspect that is similar between ships and vehicles is the capacitor. A good way to grasp this concept is to think of capacitors as the energy source that powers everything in a vehicle.
From weapon turrets to repair modules, almost everything that you fit on to your vehicle in DUST 514 will need to draw capacitor points in order to function. Because of the fusion technology that the capacitor is based on, you will never "run out" of capacitors in the long run, since it will always replenish itself over time.
However, as you activate weapons, scanners, ECM and other modules over the...
95w ago - Twisted Metal Producer Chad Cox is back with a second video today from the Twisted Metal University series dubbed Lesson 2: Vehicle Tactics for PS3.
To quote: Today's lesson focuses on risk vs. reward in the high-stakes world of vehicular combat. Experienced Twisted Metal players have long known that the highest-damage attacks require quite a bit of risk, and this 2012 revival is no exception.
Whether you're swooping in close to deliver a point-blank Shotgun blast or charging up the devastating Swarmer missile, Twisted Metal's sprawling arsenal requires a firm, steady hand.
Watch today's new video to learn how to best manage high-risk special attacks such as Roadkill's devastating Blood Missile Barrage and Reaper's Flamesaw - two of the most lethal weapons in the game.
Then use this knowledge to give you a headstart on multiplayer combat this February 14th when Twisted Metal finally lands on PS3!
Finally, below is some video footage for fans who wish to honor Twisted Metal's return by blowing up Sweet Tooth's truck- Enjoy!
106w ago - CCP Game Designer CCP Remnant has revealed details today on the vehicle dynamics in Dust 514 for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.
To quote: Vehicle classes in DUST 514 resemble modern day battlefield armored vehicles but are more menacing...and multitudes more lethal. You can also customize the vehicles with weapons and modules to ensure highly dynamic and constantly evolving gameplay where no single vehicle can impose absolute supremacy. The ultimate goal is to create an experience where players make meaningful choices based on their surroundings and situations when deploying vehicles
Vehicles are highly customizable; these units can be fitted with a broad arsenal of armaments, bolstered by modules that can be installed to apply bonuses and abilities to further enhance a vehicle's combat effectiveness.
Players will be able to choose arms from all the familiar EVE Online weapon classes, from energy-based laser weapons, blaster and rail cannon hybrid technology to traditional projectile and missile weaponry. Each of these weapon types are divided over racial factions, having an affinity towards vehicle hulls from similar origins.
Vehicles like the Caldari heavy attack Vehicle (HAV) for example, are well suited to using technologies...

PlayStation Blog: There are a lot of military shooters these days. What's the biggest thing Battlefield 3 is bringing to the table?
Patrick Liu: It's a number of things. For a very long time, the core pillars of Battlefield have been the destruction, the sandbox experience, the scale, and the vehicle gameplay. Those are all still pretty unique to Battlefield,...
