9w ago - Frictional Games Creative Director Thomas Grip shared a video today spotlighting SOMA, an upcoming Sci-Fi Horror title to Sony's PlayStation 4 video game console.
Below are the details, to quote: Hi, I am Thomas Grip, creative director at Frictional Games, an indie studio based in Sweden.
We have been crafting horror games since 2006 and are probably most famous for having created Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Previously, we have only developed for PC, but this time our new title will be released for PS4 as well!
For the last three years, we have been working on a game called SOMA. All that time, this project has remained a secret – it's a great relief to finally be able to talk about it. This game is by far the most ambitious and thrilling project we have ever undertaken.
So, what exactly is SOMA? Briefly stated, it is a sci-fi horror game played from a first person perspective. You are not a space marine though; you're a normal, very exposed person trapped in a nightmarish world. SOMA is a game about exploration, survival and immersing you inside an interactive narrative.
9w ago - BitComposer Games PR Manager Daniel Kraub posted up a new video announcing that Air Conflicts: Vietnam is out now for PlayStation 3.
To quote: Hi guys! My name is Daniel Kraub from bitComposer Games and over the past 10 months we've been working together with Peter Nagy and his team from GamesFarm on Air Conflicts: Vietnam, the third title of the Air Conflicts series.
After taking the series to Europe and the Pacific, we're now transporting the player to a completely new and underrepresented scenario. Besides, we have to admit that as Kilgore said in Apocalypse Now - we love the smell of the napalm in the morning...
So, what is Air Conflicts: Vietnam all about?
Get into your jet or helicopter and witness the Vietnam War through eyes of our main character Joe Thompson. Fly over jungles, mountains and lowlands in a huge array of different aircraft from the Vietnam era, both fixed wing and helicopters.
Experience the story of Joe as a pilot - leader of a squadron of men with varied talents and traits, all of whom you control - and of Joe as a family man - a son, a husband, a father; a moral man who comes to question his patriotism and sense of duty as the horrors of the Vietnam War unfold.
It may be an Arcade experience at heart but we keep it real...
14w ago - Tequila Works Creative Director Raul Rubio Munarriz shared a first look at the stunning PS4 / PlayStation 4 adventure game Rime below today.
To quote: Gamescom 2013. Where to begin? It was hugely emotional for us after being silent for so long. Not being able to talk about Rime publically or show what we'd been pouring our creativity into for so long was really difficult.
Finally our frustration was at an end. But ends also herald beginnings, and Rime being presented to the world amongst so many other unique and creative games was the best platform for an announcement we could have hoped for.
For us, it's not just about technology (although that's important too!), it's about how you create an experience - how you breathe life into your creation and set it free. Rime is a very personal project and, together with Sony, we have high hopes for our offspring!
16w ago - Abstraction Games Creative Director Tj'ien Twijnstra confirmed today that Gunslugs is coming soon to PS Vita.
Below are the details, to quote: Hi everyone, I'm Tj'ien, creative director at Abstraction Games, and I'm more than excited to tell you that we'll be bringing Orange Pixel's highly addictive, retro-inspired, side-scrolling roguelike Gunslugs to PS Vita.
We came into contact with Gunslugs' creator Pascal Bestebroer - "indie game developer extraordinaire" - through the nice people at Sony Computer Entertainment, who suggested he get in touch with us after they were amazed by the work we did on Hotline Miami for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
We were tremendously honored to be referred by Sony and we were thrilled to be working with Pascal as he has created so many great, retro-inspired gems, that we felt we had no other choice than to jump onboard straightaway.
After we had worked on Knytt Underground and Hotline Miami, we're all really excited about the tremendous potential of the PS Vita and its unique input systems.
But the more traditional, natural feeling of the physical buttons, combined with the amazing OLED display, make the idea of bringing Gunslugs over a no-brainer from our perspective. In fact,...
18w ago - Q-Games Producer James Mielke shared a video below today spotlighting the new PS3 Visualizer application from Q-Games which arrives this Tuesday.
To quote: Hi everyone! It's been a while but I'm back for a second tour of duty on PlayStation.Blog, although I should point out that I switched Qs in the interim (I was formerly a producer at Q Entertainment, and am now a producer at Q-Games).
The reason for my check-in here today is to announce a brand-new app (you'll find it in the 'Apps' section on PSN) for PlayStation 3 simply titled Visualizer, which, as the name suggests, is a new set of over two dozen music visualizers to use with your PS3's music library.
As you may know, Q-Games is known for its technological contributions to the games industry, in addition to its PixelJunk series of games. Q (initially Dylan Cuthbert and Kentaro Yoshida) crafted the legendary duck demo for the original PlayStation 2 reveal, and later as a company were responsible for a lot of the visual effects, XMB bar, and visualizers built in to the PlayStation 3. Q-Games also handled a lot of the interface programming on PS Vita, so, essentially, we know our way around Sony's hardware.
