Ready At Dawn: Building a New London for The Order: 1886 on PS4

35w ago - Ready At Dawn Studios CEO and Creative Director Ru Weerasuriya announced today that they are building a new London for The Order: 1886 on PS4.

To quote: When creating our alternate history in The Order: 1886, our goal was to make the environment as believable as possible while at the same time adding our own twist to real places.

With the release of our trailer back at E3, we hinted at our vision of an alternate London.

This Neo-Victorian London will seem familiar to everyone, however, advances in technology will take center stage in many ways as you navigate the city. One of the main examples is the advent of electricity throughout the city, well before its time.

Gas lamps are replaced by electric street lights. Everywhere you go, you can hear the hum of electricity running through the city.

The London subway system is present in our version of the world, but it's much more advanced than it was in real life. Certain sections of the subway system run above ground in between buildings throughout the city. Electric signs line the streets making some areas of London almost look like Times Square.

The other big change you will witness is in the skyline of London. Although the familiar sights of Big Ben, St. Paul's, and the Tower Bridge are present,...

Video: The Order 1886: Ready At Dawn Divulges New PS4 Details

43w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton divulged new The Order 1886 PlayStation 4 details today courtesy of Ready At Dawn in a PS4 interview below.

To quote: A quick list of things that invariably get my blood pumping at a PlayStation E3 press briefing:

1) Big, bold new IP reveals; 2) Hugely talented developers getting their first shot at realising an original vision; 3) Ravishingly stylish games set in my hometown of London.

Duly, the debut trailer for The Order: 1886 ticked all the boxes - yes, even the last one, making 2013 something of a banner year!

But while the first showing of Ready At Dawn's new creation was undoubtedly one of the highlights of this year's show, it also raised a fair few questions. Sure enough, I tracked down studio co-founder Ru Weerasuriya backstage in search of answers.

We'll be talking more about the game in the not too distant future, but in the meantime hopefully the following exchange will keep your interest piqued.

PlayStation.Blog: So, exactly what kind of game is The Order: 1886?

Ru Weerasuriya: The Order is a third person action adventure with shooting mechanics. It's very much story-based - it's a linear story-based game. We're trying to tell a story. It's what we call a filmic experience.

Below are the details, to quote: Happy Halloween, everyone! This is an exciting day for all of us on the Until Dawn team with our minds occupied by ghouls, beasts, and other things that go bump in the night.

We love teen-horror movies ("DON'T OPEN THAT DOOR," we cry... but alas, they always do). That's why we're so excited about Until Dawn: this game provides a truly interactive teen-horror experience!

Until Dawn puts you in control of eight teenagers, stranded in a remote location, under threat and trying with all their might to survive 'til sunrise.

Since today is Halloween, we have a special treat from Supermassive Games hinting at some of the scariest moments in the game. Don't worry: no spoilers here.

Even though you won't see any spoilers, eagle-eyed viewers may spot some details that spark lingering questions.

Who owns the items on the wall? Are the pictures portraying past victims or those who remain? You'll have to wait for Until Dawn to arrive on PS3 in 2013 to find out!

Stay safe tonight and have a Happy Halloween!

Video: Until Dawn PS3 Q&A: Teen Horror Goes SuperMassive

81w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has posted up a video and Q&A today on the Until Dawn PS3 teen horror game from SuperMassive below.

To quote: Last month's debut of PlayStation Move-based horror game Until Dawn generated enough intrigue to propel the game onto at least one news site's best of gamescom list.

And after watching a 30-minute gameplay demonstration of this cheeky horror game at gamescom, it wasn't hard to see why.

The game oozes confidence and style: its immersive use of the PlayStation Move motion controller (from flipping levers to tugging zippers), rapid-fire banter, and unabashed reliance on genre tropes all point to a game that's determined to push horror gaming into uncharted territory.

It's important to note that Until Dawn is firmly a teen horror game, trading in the healing herbs and bullet counting of the survival-horror genre for quips, jump scares, and salacious scenarios that wouldn't seem out of place in Friday the 13th or I Know What You Did Last Summer.

After Until Dawn's gamescom debut, I had a chance to speak with SuperMassive's executive creative director Will Byles, who discussed the game's genesis, HUD-free presentation,...

We've been churning away on this game for a while now, working with Hollywood writers and US TV talent, doing our best to bring the Teen Horror experience to PlayStation.

Inspired by classic movies in the genre, we expect that Until Dawn will draw you in with its characters, killer dialogue and shocking, twisted story.
