Rebel Galaxy PS4: A Backwater Universe on PlayStation 4 Detailed

50°
6w ago - Double Damage Games CEO and Developer Travis Baldree shared details today on Rebel Galaxy PS4, which is dubbed a backwater universe on PlayStation 4.

To quote: I love space games. And for a long time, it's been tough out there for people like me. Almost overnight though, it seems we've turned a corner.

Elite: Dangerous is more awesome with every build, Star Citizen is breaking records, No Man's Sky is gorgeous and surreal, and Enemy Starfighter looks amazing. I can't wait to play all of them!

Now Double Damage is throwing our hat in the, ring too, but with something very different. We wanted to build a swashbuckling space game, one filled with weird aliens, backwater bartenders, lawless pirates, and epic space battles. A game with a galaxy to explore, characters to befriend or enrage, and the random element that's been in so many of the games we've worked on.

Rebel Galaxy isn't set in a shiny, modern future - it's a greasy, rusty place on the edge of the known universe, where the ships are barely holding it together, and the people are, too. It's a sandbox galaxy where you play the character you want.

Are you a devious mercenary, collecting bounties? A crafty trader who hires protection wherever she goes? A pirate, preying on convoys? A roguish do-gooder? Maybe...

Video: Hello Games on No Man's Sky - A Whole Universe to Explore

50°
13w ago - Hello Games Managing Director Sean Murray shared details below today on No Man's Sky proclaiming it's a whole universe to explore on PlayStation 4!

To quote: Hello PlayStation.Blog! I'm Sean Murray, and I work at a little indie studio in the UK, making a game called [Register or Login to view links] on PS4.

I'm writing this on a plane back from Gamescom, where we showed some press the game behind closed doors.

We've only done three days where we've talked to press about the game so far (two at E3 and one at the VGXs last year), but for an indie game we've had lots of interest and excitement. Something I'm still struggling to get my head around.

So much so that I didn't actually want to go to Gamescom! We've never actually shown any European press the game though, and we felt bad about that.

PlayStation provided a room and I gave a hundred press a demo of the game for an hour, together with a really rambling presentation... where I apparently never looked up at the crowd once.

I can't really remember what I said, but I guess I wanted to share some stories from development, and I thought maybe you'd find them interesting, too.

We tell people...

Sony Unveils New DC Universe Online DLC Packs Expansion

50°
36w ago - Sony DC Universe Online Executive Producer Larry Liberty unveiled their new DC Universe Online DLC packs expansion details below today.

To quote: Gotham is under siege! The first of a three-part series of DLC Packs, Amazon Fury Part I, will soon reveal that Wonder Woman's mother, Queen Hippolyta, has allied with Circe and launched an attack on the world of man - starting with Gotham City.

This is purportedly a response to the Brainiac attack on Wonder Woman's homeland of Themyscira. This conflict pits mother against daughter, with Wonder Woman leading the Amazonian resistance to the Queen's aggression.

The flashpoint of the conflict is in central Gotham City, where Amazonian forces loyal to the Queen have encased the southern half of the city in a mystical barrier, and have started to destroy everything within.

Heroes have joined forces with Wonder Woman and her Rebel army as they try to save Gotham City from Hippolyta's brutal attack. Villains align themselves with Hippolyta and Circe to help advance the front lines of the battle and crush all who oppose them overtaking Gotham City.

New open world solo missions

Players will travel to an alternate version of Gotham City - Gotham Under Siege. From there, Heroes and Villains will each have...

XBlaze Code: Embryo - Visual Novel Set in BlazBlue Universe for PS3

50°
41w ago - Aksys Games Editor Mike Engler revealed today that XBlaze Code: Embryo is a visual novel set in the BlazBlue Universe that is coming to PS3.

To quote: Hello... again... and again... Aksys Games, purveyors of quality digital entertainment, is pleased to announce that we will be releasing Arc System Works' latest tour de force, XBlaze Code: Embryo!

Taking place almost two centuries before the events of BlazBlue, XBlaze tells the story of Touya Kagari, a mostly unremarkable high school sophomore with a remarkable past, and his transformation from a typical teenager into the target of secret organizations, renegade mages, homicidal maniacs, and curry-obsessed co-workers.

And though XBlaze touches on the origins of some of the more important elements of the BlazBlue mythos (The Azure, Black Beast, and Takamagahara spring immediately to mind), its story stands on its own as an epic tale of disparate groups all fighting for control of the power responsible for the creation of the universe.

As for the game itself, XBlaze is a visual novel with a number of twists on the formula. One of the biggest differences is that, unlike most games in the genre that simple use static character images during conversation scenes, story scenes in XBlaze are more akin to an animated feature, complete...
