It seems no matter which Web site you go to, they all shower praise on the latest game by Valve entitled Left 4 Dead. As a zombie—and video game enthusiast—I assumed this would become one of my favorite games. It sounded like a match made in heaven.

Unfortunately, I came away from the demo very underwhelmed. Sub par graphics and average gun play killed my enthusiasm pretty quickly. I did find the gun play enjoyable in Left 4 Dead, but I really wasn't overwhelmed by how good each gun felt. They felt appropriate.

The guns sounded average. Nothing praise worthy, but nothing to whine about, either. I don't want to offend anyone, but if you're going to tell me that this game has amazing texturing, lighting effects, environments, character models, and animations then you are probably one of those people that think Turok is a great looking game.

The environments themselves looked appropriately drab but they weren't very inspired or pleasing to the... More »

Update: Final Fantasy XIII's composer Masashi Hamauzu was presenting the live event. He didn't say much but has said the main theme doesn't have a title yet and probably won't until the game is completed. He also had a 5 minute "interview" talking about the process of composing a song. That's all we have so far.

According to ff13.xrea.jp, the Live Premiere Final Fantasy XIII event that was taking place today only lasted 20 minutes and included the trailers without voices.

The event lasted 25 minutes less than it was supposed to and included no new announcements from Square-Enix. They did preview two new tracks including the main theme though.

Sadly, that was the main point of the show...it was a live music event. We'll update you as we get more info.

You’ve read our Live Blog of Microsoft’s CES Keynote, now here’s the impressions. What a waste of time. No product announcements, no talk of what we can expect over the next year. It was an hour long boast session. “Look what we did”.

I don’t know if the HD-DVD cancellation cut out any announcements or what, but this was pathetic and boring. I’m going to go on record as to say it was the worst keynote from Microsoft ever.

Here’s what happening, in a nutshell. They showed off Windows Live and all it’s components, then bragged about how cool it is. Said how cool Xbox 360 is and how many consoles and Live subscriptions they’ve sold. Talked about how cool Mediaroom and Zune are. Showed off the Zune Social website. Showed off Sync in cars, then Windows Mobile (followed by bragging about how it’s the best). Gates shows one thing that could happen in the future, but it’s very far off and not extremely interesting. Robbie Bach challenges Bill G... More »
