Guide: How to Compile PSFreedom's Payloads with Ubuntu 10.10

400°
180w ago - Over the weekend Klutsh posted a simple guide on how to compile PSFreedom's payloads with Ubuntu 10.10.

He states this is for the payloads only and is independent of devices, and his next guide will cover compiling the kernel and the kernel module which are device dependant.

Below is the guide, to quote:

Here's a real quick guide on getting Ubuntu 10.10 ready to compile the PSFreedom payloads.

Prerequisites:

• A Working install of Ubuntu 10.10

The Guide:

First thing we need to do is install some applications through apt, so open a terminal and do the following:

sudo apt-get install git-core gnupg flex bison gperf libsdl1.2-dev libesd0-dev libwxgtk2.6-dev build-essential zip curl libncurses5-dev zlib1g-dev gcc-4.3 cpp-4.3 g++-4.3 texinfo autoconf

Now we need to clone PSFreedom from github to our local PC, pull it's submodules and get the toolchain installed

cd ~/
git clone git://github.com/kakaroto/PSFreedom.git
cd PSFreedom
git submodule update --init
cd pl3
git submodule update --init
cd ps3toolchain

Video: XBMC Running on XBox 360 / Ubuntu by Team Cygnos

249w ago - Team Cygnos have posted a video of XBox Media Center (XBMC) running on XBox 360 with Ubuntu launched via the Xell loader by tmbinc.

To quote: We managed to patch XBMC for Linux so that it runs on the XBox 360. It is still a proof-of-concept and does not have sound or 3D acceleration, but it runs!

This is a demonstration of XBMC (Xbox Media Center) running on an XBox 360 with Ubuntu 7.10.

Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10 Builds Now Available for PS3 Linux

650°
258w ago - Recently some new Ubuntu builds have been made available for PS3 Linux. Although Ubuntu does not officially support it, the PS3 versions are maintained through community support.

PlayStation 3 Desktop CD: For Sony PlayStation 3 systems. (This defaults to installing Ubuntu permanently, since there is usually not enough memory to try out the full desktop system and run the installer at the same time. An alternative boot option to try Ubuntu without changing your computer is available.)

Download: Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) PS3 CD (684MB) / Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) PS3 CD (644MB)

Those interested in keeping up on the daily builds can check the link above or HERE, and props to both xmen3 and mihaiolimpiu for the news.
