Ever since the original PlayStation Portable release in Japan, you guys have never given up on it, raising your voices in an effort to see this title come to North America and Europe. Well, I'm here to tell you that it's coming and it's going to be in HD.

Tozai Games Announces R-Type Dimensions is Out Today on PS3

9w ago - Tozai Games Public Relations Representative David Bruno announced that R-Type Dimensions is out today on PS3 with details below.

To quote: We're back with another look at R-Type Dimensions on PS3 (available today for only $9.99). Before you rush off to buy it, I wanted to give future R-9A Arrowhead pilots a few tips and a closer look at R-Type Dimensions' new features.

First off, R-Type Dimensions features a newly arranged soundtrack by Kenichiro Iwasaki that is pure audio bliss, and is a perfect matchup to the game's new HD graphics.

Speaking of new audio and graphics brings me to the option to swap back and forth between the new and the old. In R-Type Dimensions players can swap between the new versions of R-Type and R-Type II on the fly, directly in the midst of the action, simply by pressing the Triangle button on DualShock 3, or on an arcade stick.

It's awesome to see and hear the changes right there on the spot without having to back out of the game, return to the menu, and start the game all over again. And if a player prefers to map any of the controls to another button, R-Type Dimensions features full controller customization, too!

Another new feature which I am in love with is the slow-motion feature. At any point during the game, players can hold...

Video: R-Type Dimensions is Coming to PS3 on May 20th, 2014

11w ago - Tozai Games Public Relations Representative David Bruno shared a new video trailer below today announcing that R-Type Dimensions is coming to PS3 on May 20th, 2014.

To quote: Hola, PlayStation.Blog readers. It's been a while, hasn't it? I hope everyone is having a splendid week thus far, and that you all had an awesome weekend.

May is one of my favorite months. It starts off early with Star Wars "May the 4th" festivities, and then jumps immediately into Cinco de Mayo, without a break in between the two days. It's like one big 48-hour celebration, and I love it!

But now that the party is over you may find yourselves asking "Well, what else do we have to look forward to this month?" Oh, I don't know... how about Tozai Games bringing R-Type Dimensions to PS3 on May 20th!

Yup, that's right, the PS3 shoot 'em up library is about to explode with not only one, but two fully-remastered R-Type games with new HD graphics, music, and features!

Tozai is going at this one with their lasers-a'-blazing, bringing both R-Type and R-Type II together as R-Type Dimensions. Players will be getting R-Type, featuring all 8 original R-Type levels, and R-Type II, featuring all 6 original levels. But wait, hold the phones, there's more!

Tozai isn't just releasing some...

Project Morpheus: Experiencing PS4's Virtual Reality Prototype

200°
18w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman detailed Project Morpheus today, sharing his experiences with PS4's Virtual Reality Prototype.

Below are all the details, to quote: Project Morpheus is PlayStation's prototype virtual reality system for PS4, announced earlier this week at GDC.

Despite its pre-release status, Morpheus is a sleek, eye-catching piece of hardware that feels surprisingly comfy once strapped to your cranium.

This is partly due to a clever design that distributes most of the unit's weight to the top of your head, not the bridge of your nose or other delicate pressure points.

Properly seated, the unit sits snugly over your eyes but rests comfortably on your face. You peer through two separate lenses, which resolves into one immersive, high definition image that provides a convincing sense of depth.

I tried out two demos: EVE Valkyrie, a fast-paced arcade-style dogfighting simulation set in outer space, and The Deep, a face-to-face encounter with a prowling great white shark. Each of these demos was radically different, expressing radically different approaches to virtual reality gaming.

Of the two demos, EVE Valkyrie's...

Shuttle Quest 2000: R-Type Meets Monster Hunter on PS Mobile

50°
43w ago - TACSgames developer Thomas Hopper explained to fans today that Shuttle Quest 2000 is essentially R-Type meets Monster Hunter on PlayStation Mobile.

To quote: Over the last year, I have been working hard to bring fun games to PlayStation Mobile. I have created many titles to fit the many tastes of mobile gamers. My most recent game, Shuttle Quest 2000, is sort of a cross between and R-Type and Monster Hunter.

Become humanity's best shuttle pilot as you confront the evil alien forces of General Xarod. You'll meet many characters on your adventure, including humans, aliens, a pirate robot shop keeper and a very grumpy door.

To make your shuttle more combat-effective, you'll embark on quests, which will give you more resources and money to buy or craft new weapons, items, and drones. Defeating enemy megaships will alert your adversaries and make your job harder, but by conquering them, you will unlock more resources and weapons.

There are tons of different combinations of weapons and drones that you can use to make your shuttle a unique fighting machine.

I'm passionate about classic gaming, so I've done my best to make the game as authentic as possible with retro-accurate graphics, visual effects, chip tune music and sound effects. I wanted to make the space station...
