Sony Announces New LittleBigPlanet 2 PS3 Packs Coming Soon

164w ago - On this July 4th holiday SCEA PR Manager Eric Levine has announced some new LittleBigPlanet 2 Packs incoming, including inFAMOUS 2, Toy Story, and FINAL FANTASY VII!

To quote: Over the next two months we've got some pretty darned cool LittleBigPlanet 2 DLC packs heading your way.

I'm sure you've noticed the title of this post, so let's not delay any further - from the depths of Midgar, I'm delighted to unveil...the [Register or Login to view links] costume pack!

Coming to the PlayStation Store on July 13th, these costumes will let you re-live the struggle of Cloud, Aeris, and the rest of AVALANCHE against Shinra, from one of the most iconic and critically acclaimed video games of all time.

Exciting stuff - but that's not all. I'm sure lots of you have been enjoying the continuing adventures of Cole McGrath in inFAMOUS 2. Those adventures can now continue even further thanks to the inFAMOUS 2 mini-pack.

Released this week for $2.99, it contains costumes for Good Cole and Bad Cole, as well as a whole host of new stickers. Being a hero is optional in inFAMOUS 2, so this will give you a chance to show your true colors!

HandCircus on Okabu: The PlayStation Network Physics Toybox

165w ago - HandCircus founder Simon Oliver has revealed more details on Okabu: The PSN Physics Toybox today which will be heading to PlayStation Network soon.

To quote: [Register or Login to view links] is a really small team - there are only five of us at the studio! In addition to myself, we have Mikko and Matt handling art needs, Luke spearheading programming and Shane tackling level design. We've also been working with [Register or Login to view links], who have been crafting Okabu's original, authentic African-inspired soundtrack.

Their studio has been filled to the rafters with all manner of exotic instruments like Marimbas, Kalimbas, Vibraphones as well as some extremely talented vocalists.

Always-on Co-op

Co-op is at the core of the game. Even single player is a co-op experience because it allows you to swap between Kumulo and Nimbe (and they hero that they may be carrying) at any time.

Much of the game revolves around using the different skills of the heroes together - get Monkfish to pull open a door, then Picolo can lure a bull through and get it to take out a dastardly Dozabot. If there's two of you the game is even more fun, as each of you can take control of Kumulo or Nimbe.

To quote: It's hard to believe it's been 10 years since the PlayStation 2 launched and 11 years since I first started here at Sony Computer Entertainment America.

Over the last decade, I've had the privilege of working on some of PlayStation's latest and greatest - the EyeToy being one of my first big projects when I joined the company in 1999.

The EyeToy USB camera was the first of its kind to translate your body movements into game controls, map your face onto in-game characters and more. It was created to allow you to physically interact with games, such as Antigrav, EyeToy Play and Kinetic, using your body.

The unencumbered feeling of no wires and feeling free (instead of connected to your television) was very important, as was the simplicity of the controls. Everyone, even non-gamers, felt like they could just jump in and play, which was great.

We learned a lot from our experience creating EyeToy, and it has definitely played a significant role in the development of PlayStation Move. We've pulled together a quick look back at the technology...
