Progress via competition

With a shared passion for highly competitive games like Street Fighter, many of Velocity 2X' most refined gameplay features are the result of over 18 months of constant, thumb-blistering competition between the two of us! Hussain obviously thinks he's the greatest, but I haven't really shown my hand yet... [ EDIT: Oh really? Let's see it then Mr. Marsden! - Hussain ]

Below you will find a bunch of tips that we've used to keep getting the edge over each other.

Video: Table Top Racing Launches on PlayStation Vita Today

11w ago - Playrise Digital CEO Nick Burcombe shared a PS Vita video trailer announcing that Table Top Racing launches on PlayStation Vita today.

To quote: Hi! Nick Burcombe here from Playrise Digital, the team behind Table Top Racing on PS Vita. You may have seen my blog post a couple of weeks ago - hello again, if that's the case!

Table Top Racing is out today, so I'm back to show you guys the brand new launch trailer... As it's launch day, I thought I'd give you guys a few tactical tips before you start revving your engines.

First and foremost, make sure you upgrade your car as you progress - otherwise you won't keep up with the competition. Things get even more interesting when you start experimenting with Weapon-Wheels.

In conjunction with the power-ups, the wheel weapons will give you a real strategic advantage, so think carefully about your selection before each race.

There are 17 fully upgradeable cars, all of which come with some cool skins. You start off with a choice between the Whippy Kai-Yay! Ice Cream Van or the Hippy Bathday Campervan, but in no time at all you'll be upgrading through to the likes of Rally Cars, suped-up pick-up trucks and hyper-cars like the Veloceratti and the Baguetti Carb Injection - we had a lot of fun with the car names.

Playrise Digital: Table Top Racing Coming to PS Vita on August 5th

13w ago - Playrise Digital CEO Nick Burcombe announced today that Table Top Racing is coming to PS Vita on August 5th, 2014.

To quote: Hi, I'm Nick Burcombe, head of Liverpool-based indie development studio [Register or Login to view links]. We've joined forces with publisher [Register or Login to view links] to bring our award-winning game Table Top Racing to PS Vita on August 5th.

I was part of the original team that created WipeOut back in the mid '90s for PlayStation, and I have always loved combat racers and driving games above all other genres - games like Micro Machines and Mario Kart.

So when we were looking at building a new racer, it felt natural to reference those classics when crafting Table Top Racing. We set out to capture some of that essence of what made them so much fun, and I think we've done a pretty good job on that front!

Table Top Racing features a host of crazy tracks complete with shortcuts, over-sized obstacles, jumps, and all manner of other hazards. As the game picks up speed, you need to understand the best racing lines and drift momentum you can get with some of the later cars - it's pretty frantic.

We've included one shot weapon power-ups which give players a temporary advantage, be it a speed boost, missile...

Divetips: Divekick PS3 and PS Vita Strategies from EVO's Top 3

62w ago - Divekick Creator Adam "Keits" Heart shared some Divekick PS3 and PS Vita divetips strategies with fans today from EVO's Top 3 below.

To quote: Divekick is out on PS3 and PS Vita Tuesday! By now, many of you are starting to realize just how deep and competitive this game really is.

Online ranked play is going to be filled with killers in no time, so to help you get a head start, we've compiled a few tips from the top 3 finishers at EVO 2013. Additionally, we've included a quick character bio for our final fighter, Kenny, to complement our first two roster updates.

5 Tips from EVO Champion Mean Saltine

1. Know your spacing. Every character in the game has a different angle on their divekick. It is critical that you know how close you can get to your opponent without getting kicked in the face. You know you are at the perfect range when you can react to an opponents attack with an attack of your own.

2. Be patient. It might seem natural to go crazy with your divekicks, but it is much more effective to wait for your opponent to make a mistake before you strike. Playing too aggressive is very dangerous against patient opponents!

3. Use your special moves. Every character has two special abilities in the game. Sometimes knowing when...

86w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has shared a video today recapping the PS4 / PlayStation 4 announcement featuring some of PlayStation's Top Game Creators below today.

To quote: One week ago, PlayStation 4 was announced in New York City in a presentation streamed by more than 12 million gamers.

We met the new DualShock 4 controller, soaked up some impressive hardware specs and services, and watched a barrage of upcoming PS4 games, from inFAMOUS: Second Son to Bungie's new title Destiny.

During the presentation, Lead System Architect Mark Cerny remarked that the PS4 was made "by game creators, for game creators."

To test that theory, we met with two of PlayStation's top game creators, SCE World Wide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida and SCEA World Wide Studios Senior Vice President Scott Rohde, to see which of PS4′s new features has them most inspired.
