There's general agreement that Sony stumbled out of the gate with the PlayStation 3. Months of intense hype were followed by a late launch (fully a year after the Xbox 360) and a staggering $600 price tag for the deluxe model.
Even worse, the PS3 didn't initially have any real must-have exclusive titles, and despite the power of its vaunted Cell processor, multiplatform games from third-party developers didn't look appreciably better than the respective titles on the Xbox 360.
Since then, the company's been modifying the PlayStation product line to better fit the competitive market landscape. As of August 2008, a new "bargain" PS3 is available with a larger, 80GB hard drive, and a "deluxe" model is due in November, doubling the capacity to 160GB.

(1) Play games from any country Harbouring a desire to play Super Gaiden Ninja XI? Now you can. In fact, you can handily play any PS3 game from any country. On holiday in the States and spot the latest release at a bargain dollar-to-pound price? Help yourself. So far, at least, PS3 games aren’t being region coded. That said PS2 and PS1 games are so you can’t play a US title on a Euro console.
And let’s not forget that Blu-ray movies are region-coded so the barriers aren’t completely down yet.

At Sony’s ongoing conference at Games Convention 2008 in Leipzig, SCEE president David Reeves announced that the long-rumored PSP-3000 goes on sale this fall worldwide, pinning an October 15 date for EMEA territories.
As expected, the new model is a hardware refresh, adding a built-in microphone, as well as an enhanced LCD screen with significantly less glare and more vibrant colors. Cosmetically, the PSP-3000 sports slightly smoother curves compared to the design of the current Slim & Lite revision.
It’ll ship in eight separate hardware bundle packages in Europe, with each priced at 199€.
For those of us outside of Europe, SCEA has confirmed that the PSP-3000 will be sold initially in North America through the previously announced Ratchet & Clank Entertainment Pack on October 14, as well as a new 4GB Entertainment Pack due out in November.

When we first got our hands on the UK iPhone back in September, it was already running the 1.1.1 firmware. The same firmware which helpfully bricked a number of hacked iPhones Stateside upon later release. Now T3 is claiming that the UK iPhone -- set for release on November 9th -- is kicking 1.1.2 under the glass.
Besides support for French and German keyboard layouts and characters, the other notable change is the shuttering of the TIFF exploit used to jailbreak and then install (and unlock) third party applications on the 1.1.1 iPhone and iPod touch. With the possibility that Apple might release 1.1.2 globally with the UK launch on Friday, consider yourselves warned.
It's not like there's a lot of incentive for you to update anyway (remember, it's optional) what with the latest jailbreak simultaneously exploiting and then plugging the TIFF exploit to keep your browsing safe. TicHack states: I was playing around with some TIFF image on Fw 1.93US when i found out something very interesting. After the TIFF show up on the Memory Card I copy it in the HDD. Unfortunately the console doesn't read the TIFF and it give me Corrupted Data. Then I viewed the TIFF from the Photo Menu after I tooked the HDD OFF and I viewed it again then I scrolled the XMB on the Right Side and then very SLOWLY to the Left side and the we go the Ps3 didn't stop working. I can go into Game Data Utility - Save Data Utility and I can use the TRIANGLE (e.g Eject Disc, Copy etcc) also plug in External Devices and so ON... Just try it.

SCEA has stated on the Official Playstation boards that discussion of PSP homebrew and hacking is BANNED. SCEA state that homebrew applications void the warranty of the PSP and an official area to discuss such features can not be provided. The following topics are banned - custom firmware themes, applications, custom animation/sounds and other materials made available only through the use of homebrew applications. Basically EVERYTHING related to PSP homebrew/hacking is banned, anyone that ignores their policy will be banned and considered for other 'disciplinary actions' as determined by their admins. The official Playstation boards were FULL of homebrew discussion incase you didn't know!
