Sony Announces YouTube is Coming to PS4 / PlayStation 4 This Year

100°
6w ago - Sony YouTube Product Manager Sarah Ali announced that YouTube is coming to PS4 / PlayStation 4 this year!

Below is the full scoop straight from E3 2014, as follows:

Happy E3! As you may have heard during PlayStation's press conference, the YouTube team has been working hard to bring YouTube to PlayStation 4, where you can find and play all of YouTube including music videos, gaming videos, live streams and more. Today, we're delighted to announce that YouTube is coming to PS4 this fall!

Sharing your greatest gaming moments on YouTube will be a piece of cake on PS4, thanks to the dedicated sharing capabilities at the very heart of PS4.

YouTube will officially be one of the social options offered when you press the SHARE button on your DualShock 4. After pressing SHARE, you'll see the YouTube icon pop up alongside Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, and Ustream, and in just a couple of quick steps, you can go from playing your favorite games to publishing videos on your own YouTube channel. You'll also be able to see your friends' shared YouTube videos using the "What's New" feed.

In addition to the integrated sharing functionality, a YouTube app on PS4 will become available (just like on PS3) where you can access your favorite YouTube channels, videos and personalities....

Video: Green Lava Studios: Fenix Rage is Coming to PS4 This Year

8w ago - Green Lava Studios CEO Eduardo Ramirez announced today that Fenix Rage is coming to PS4 this year with details and a PlayStation 4 video trailer below.

To quote: It's hard for me to start this blog without saying how incredibly lucky I feel, and I speak for the rest of the Green Lava Studios team of Diego Vasquez and Jose Mora when I say this.

It was only a couple years ago that we debuted our first game prototype on Google Play - it was really simple with hardly any cool visuals, but it served as the backbone of what would become our current game, Fenix Rage.

To read about the official announcement that our hardcore platformer will be launching this Fall on PS4... well, for three guys who grew up in Costa Rica daydreaming about video games, it's just incredible.

As gamers our entire lives, we had a lot of inspirations when creating Fenix Rage. We were - and still are - big fans of Sonic The Hedgehog, and that influence is seen with Fenix's dashing attack as well as some of his animations when near an edge of a platform.

The bright colors and sharp art design is something heavily influenced by Mike Mignolia's Hellboy as well as a cartoon I personally loved from my childhood, SWAT Kats.

9w ago - SingStar Game Director Chris Bruce announced today that SingStar is coming to PS4 alongside a free companion application this year.

To quote: Hi everyone! Here at SingStar HQ we're really excited to announce some very big changes coming to SingStar this year.

It's hard to believe but SingStar is ten years old today, and in that time we've sold a whopping 26 million copies, so thanks to all of you for your fantastic support over the years.

Over the last decade we've really tried to keep making your SingStar experience the very best possible, like launching the SingStore back in 2007 to give you instant access to the best tracks online. And we don't plan to stop any time soon.

We're pleased to announce that SingStar will be coming to PS4 later this year! We'll also be launching a free SingStar app that will transform your smartphone into a microphone. That's right, no mics required.

The app works with both PS3 and PS4 versions of SingStar and is compatible with smartphones and tablets. The app will also let you create your own personal playlists.

We're also working hard to optimize the social experience of SingStar by making it even easier to share the best bits of your night...

Video: RPG Platformer Chasm is Coming to PlayStation 4 This Year

12w ago - Discord Games Inc Founder James Petruzzi announced that RPG Platformer Chasm is coming to PlayStation 4 this year.

To quote: Hello, PlayStation fans! My name is James Petruzzi, and I'm the Producer of [Register or Login to view links], a procedurally-generated RPG Platformer coming to PS4 later this year.

In Chasm, players take up the role of Daltyn, a young soldier sent to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a mining crew in the remote mountain town of Karthas. Upon arrival you learn the town has been cut off from the outside world by supernatural forces.

Now trapped, you are left with no option but to explore the mines below the town and uncover the source of the disturbances. Only by gaining new special abilities, evading dangerous traps, and defeating hordes of deadly enemies can you hope to save Karthas - and possibly the world!

One of the hardest parts of game design is creating a unique and interesting world for players to explore. The Metroidvania genre has always been popular among exploration fans, and utilizes unlockable items or abilities that help the player reach previously inaccessible areas.

The goal of our latest game is to make an authentic Metroidvania-style experience that utilizes procedural generation to keep the experience...

Spry Fox: Road Not Taken on PS4, PS Vita: Living a Full, 15-Year Life

16w ago - Spry Fox CEO David Edery shared details today on Road Not Taken for PS4 / PS Vita dubbed Living a Full, 15-Year Life below.

To quote: This post is about Road Not Taken, Spry Fox's upcoming roguelike for PS4 & PS Vita. If this is your first time hearing about RNT, check out our [Register or Login to view links]!

Lately, we've been doing a ton of playtesting of Road Not Taken, particularly with fellow game developers. (If you're ever looking for brutally honest feedback, other game developers are a good place to start.)

In general, the feedback has been pretty positive: people love the game's basic mechanics, art and audio. But one big issue repeatedly crept up in many of our playtests: people weren't sensing the depth of the game and weren't feeling a strong sense of progression. This post is all about how we've been fixing that.

I like to think of Road Not Taken as an iceberg floating in the ocean: a tiny percentage of the total game is visible above the surface when you first start playing, while the vast majority of the game lies unseen, waiting to be discovered.

A large part of that depth comes from all the unusual creatures and objects you can encounter as you explore the enchanted forests of the game. Another large...
