266w ago - It's nice to get some figures that can be used to throw in the face of all those who claim PC gaming to be a dying breed.
The Witcher, and the just released Enhanced Edition has just broken the One-Million mark in sales. For those of you who haven't played it, I'd highly recommend it. As far as classic style PC RPGs go, this one is top notch.
The original release had a few pretty bad issues, terrible load times being the worst, but the Enhanced Edition is enhanced in every way.
With fixes and updates for the game as well as load time reduction of about 80%, the few problems with the game are resolved. But the Enhanced Edition does much more than just fix the game, truly earning the it's title.
Two additional campaigns as well as a campaign editor are included, to vastly increase replay value, the game's soundtrack and a cd with music inspired by the game, a short story that The Witcher was based on and a map of the world of The Witcher.
Easily one of the best games of the year, if you haven't already picked it up, do so, for 40 bucks, it's a great deal.
286w ago - Developer CD Projekt today revealed that its reworked and tweaked version of The Witcher, titled The Witcher Enhanced Edition, has been delayed to early September.
Originally slated for a May release, CD Projekt made mention of the delay in April, but had not specified a new date for the expanded PC fantasy RPG.
The revised launch date was announced in an update to the game's community page, where the company explained that the delay was necessary to prepare ten different language localizations of the game for a simultaneous release.
Beyond bug fixes and stability improvements, The Witcher Enhanced Edition will see the addition of fifty new character models for an increased variety in NPCs, new voice acting, a redone translation, improved facial animation and gestures, and a revised inventory system. Most of the changes are a direct result of player feedback.
The new content will be provided free of charge to those users who have already purchased the game. The retail version of the Enhanced Edition will include several bonus items including a video DVD, two music CDs and an extra DVD with bonus materials, such as an adventure editor.
318w ago - Several members of the Atari forums from Canada are reporting that they've purchased a copy of The Witcher in retail and it hasn't come with a CD key on the back of the manual.
One member said; "I picked up my copy of The Witcher today and have been unable to locate the CD-Key which is supposed to be inside the manual cover (this is the retail version purchased in store; I had it pre-ordered). I've looked through the manual and the case and have been unable to find the CD-Key. I've noticed that it was mentioned on The Witcher official forums as well. Is this a problem with all CD-Keys with this version or did I just happen to get one that doesn't have one?"
They are also having troubles getting in contact with Atari to get an answer to remedy their problems, so we'll be getting in contact with Atari to see if we can find out why these issues have come about. Stay tuned!
324w ago - The Witcher is an action RPG, combining features of such games as Dungeon Siege, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Gothic and Neverwinter Nights, incorporating a simple-yet-interesting game system, along with a complex plot and attractive 3D graphics.
The Witcher represents the pinnacle of storytelling in role-playing games, shattering the line between good and evil with a world where moral ambiguity reigns. In a beautiful, rich game universe created by artists first, technology second, the player becomes his own hero in an epic, action-packed narrative uniquely defined by his actions. Returning to the roots of the role-playing genre with a fresh and modern approach, The Witcher emphasizes story and character development in a vibrant world, while incorporating tactically-deep real-time combat like no game before it.
Immersed in a vivid but harsh fantasy world, the player assumes the role of a white-haired witcher named Geralt, a renowned monster-slayer-for-hire and master swordsman with superhuman strength and reflexes. While trying to regain his lost memory, Geralt unwillingly becomes involved in a world-shaking power struggle. Created to provide entertainment for both fans of role-playing games...
