Comedy on Demand: Laugh Factory on PlayStation 3 is Updated

50°
61w ago - New Media President Lance Koenders announced today that Laugh Factory on PlayStation 3 is now updated for fans with details below.

To quote: How much do you think your health is worth? How much do you think having a smile on your face every day is worth? When the stresses of life - work, school, traffic, kids - get too much for you, the best escape, the best medicine, is laughter.

The Laugh Factory has been providing the biggest and best laughs for over 34 years. Owner and Founder Jamie Masada, has referred to comedians for years as "Doctors of the Soul" and his new partnership with PlayStation 3 is offering laughs to PlayStation 3 subscribers for only 10 cents a day.

For less than $3 a month, the best comedians in the world will help you forget your problems or, at the very least, help you laugh at their problems!

"It is our mission to bring smiles to the faces of as many people in the world as possible and the monthly fee barely cover our costs," says Masada, "but it is cheaper than any pharmaceutical solution, I'll tell you that. Perhaps this offer will put Big Pharma out of business."

In addition to the established comics, new comedians will be added daily offering thousands of hours of laughs and smiles to help provide you with...

To quote: Welcome back from E3! I'm sure you all are pretty pumped for what's to come this year in the video game world.

A slew of new AAA titles, new features, and new announcements from our favorite games. Speaking of our favorite games, as the executive producer of DC Universe Online, it is no surprise that what I'm most excited about coming out of E3 is DC Universe Online's new DLC pack!

That's right, more new content for a game that is already free-to-play! And the best part is...you don't have to wait much longer to jump into battle.

The Last Laugh will include hours of multiplayer gameplay in the Safe Houses and Headquarters, an all-new weapon, and new Light-Powered and Kryptonian Legends PvP characters.

The story revolves around The Joker, who decides that the Heroes...

Sony Testing Laugh Detection and Emotional Tracking Software

50°
258w ago - Today Siliconera (linked above) has uncovered an SCEA patent application which reveals that Sony is experimenting with laugh detection and emotional tracking software.

According to the documentation, the application picks up metadata, including laughter recorded by the microphone and a user's expression from the camera.

Apparently the software isn't limited to video games, and can be used for TV shows and films along with other media presentations.

To quote: Both devices are linked to a "game console", shown as a PlayStation 3 in the diagram, which identifies the user, notes emotions, and transfers the data over a network.

How will Sony identify emotions? The patent mentions identifying body gestures and tracking group interactions "such as when two individuals give each other a 'High Five.'"

Sony also developed smile detecting software for their Cyber Shot W120 camera which could be used too.

While the patent focuses on laugher it can identify other emotions such as sadness, excitement, anger, joy, interest, and boredom. For example, boredom may be detected if a user is "looking away from the presentation, yawning, or talking over the presentation."
