227w ago - Many players have experienced problems (lag in the first place) for the online game The King of Fighters XII by SNK.
The developers, however, claimed to have worked on a patch to improve the stability and quality of online gaming.
This update patch is already available for the PlayStation 3 version of the title, while the Microsoft console update will have to wait awhile as the date of release for the Xbox 360 patch has not yet been confirmed.
Finally, a list of The King of Fighters XII PS3 Trophies is now available, including the Secret PS3 Trophies.
227w ago - Ignition Entertainment's Shane Bettenhausen has announced that The King of Fighters XII will be igniting PlayStation 3 consoles this week.
To quote: The fighting game gurus at SNK PLAYMORE have finally put the finishing touches on the PLAYSTATION 3 release of The King of Fighters XII, the long-awaited next-generation rebirth of this revered arcade fighting franchise.
The game will be available at retail tomorrow, July 28th, and we here at Ignition Entertainment are thrilled to help bring this all-new hand-drawn 2D fighter to the North American market first.
That's right; U.S. gamers will get their hands on the game before their counterparts in Asia and Europe...so early adopters can train for a few days to hone their skills before facing online challengers from KOF's Japanese homeland.
Series veterans likely already know the franchise's unique history–back in 1994, characters from classic Neo Geo series including Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and Ikari Warriors were brought together to create a unique and revolutionary three-on-three fighting game known simply as The King of Fighters '94.
For the next decade, KOF reigned as one of the most beloved fighting game franchises ever, with annual updates satiating...
236w ago - Today Ignition Entertainment's Shane Bettenhausen has posted on the PlayStation Blog today news that The King of Fighters XII is due out this summer for the PlayStation 3 console.
To quote: Dedicated KOF fans have been patiently waiting for years to get their hands on a new installment in this legendary franchise. Since its inception 15 years ago, The King of Fighters has served as a ferocious franchise mash-up, gathering characters from classic series such as Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and Ikari Warriors for three-on-three street fighting action.
For years, fans could depend on KOF to deliver a new yearly update sporting a few minor tweaks and new playable characters, but the advent of the HD era demanded a fresh start. KOF XII is precisely that–a total reboot and rebirth that embraces the past while looking towards the future.
The developers at SNK PLAYMORE have worked hard to deliver a next-gen King of Fighters sequel that honors the series' tradition of hand-drawn 2D art and animation while upping the ante with gameplay refinements and fierce online play.
Creating the massive amount of hand-drawn art required to fluidly animate HD-quality character sprites required a small army of artists sketching their hearts out–SNK...
238w ago - It looks like SNK is already preparing to outfit King of Fighters XII with DLC.
To quote: The upcoming fighting game will have additional purchased content available on the Xbox Live Marketplace (as uncovered by Siliconera) and, presumably, on PSN as well.
What that content is exactly, we don't know just yet; however, we assume this means more costumes and game modes a la Street Fighter IV. Maybe it means more characters ... like all the ones missing from the roster screen (below).
In addition to DLC, KoF XII has console-specific online modes. The PS3 version features a "Clan" mode which is not found on the 360 version (check out the image above); however, the 360 version has a "Ranked Match" option while the PS3 version does not. Hmm ... you don't think SNK would charge for these modes as paid DLC now, would it?
248w ago - Entertainment has just announced a July 2009 worldwide release for King of Fighters XII, the impossibly gorgeous first HD entry in SNK Playmore's long-running 2D fighting series, on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
To quote: The fighter features 20 playable characters, all of whom appear as newly redrawn sprites, fighting in equally impressive 2D backgrounds.
According to the press release, preview footage and images for this unbelievably hot game are included in the PS2 release of King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match, itself a fairly nice-looking KOF - which happens to be out today.
