50°
6h ago - Atomicom Managing Director Gary Nichols announced today that Switch Galaxy Ultra is out next Tuesday on PS4 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: Hey there, Gary from Atomicom here with an update on Switch Galaxy Ultra. It's one of the fastest reaction racers out there, and it launches on PlayStation Store next week Tuesday, just in time for the holiday season.

We're very proud to announce that the Charity Pack, which supports Caudwell Children, features licensed music from Nero, Chase & Status, Modestep, and Kove.

All the proceeds from the sale of this pack go to help this amazing charity who support poor, sick, and disabled children, so please dig deep and help us support them by buying the pack.

Being only a small team, we're very proud of what we have achieved with the game, from its early origins on Android through to our critically acclaimed Switch Galaxy, which launched last year on PlayStation Mobile.

Now there's Switch Galaxy Ultra, which we can honestly say is one of the biggest undertakings we've made so far as a team.

Both PS4 and PS Vita versions are running in super smooth 60 frames per second, with the PS4 version at 1080p and both supporting cross buy, cross play, and cross save, along with Online Multiplayer and tons of content. It's...

6h ago - Sony's Jawad Ashraf of the PS Store Team is here with this weeks EU PlayStation Store updates, which include Resogun, Oddword: Munch's Oddysee, Switch Galaxy Ultra and more below!

To quote: Christmas might be fast approaching but we're not slowing down on PlayStation Store just yet. On the contrary - it's a busy week.

On PS4, look out for free-to-play shooter Loadout, revamped puzzle classic Tetris Ultimate, picturesque platformer Trine Enchanted Edition and fast-paced racer Switch Galaxy Ultra (which is also Cross Buy on PS Vita).

On the handheld front there's the remake of Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Housemarque's brilliant shoot 'em up Resogun goes portable. And look out too for some tempting expansions, including new DRIVECLUB content, LittleBigPlanet 3′s Frozen costume pack and a new add-on for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

As one last reminder, the 12 Deals of Christmas will be winding down this week, but naturally the deals won't end there - return to us next week for even more discounts.

Atomicom Unveils The Art of Switch Galaxy Ultra on PS4, PS Vita

31w ago - Atomicom Managing Director Gary Nichols unveils the art of Switch Galaxy Ultra on PS4 and PS Vita with details below.

To quote: Greetings - Gary from Atomicom here with an update on Switch Galaxy Ultra, our insanely-fast, reaction-based arcade game that's been developed as an update to our critically acclaimed PlayStation Mobile title Switch Galaxy.

We've been off the radar a bit as we had our heads down squeezing every last drop of art, code, and blood into the game and it's shaped up to be something we're very proud of. Both the PS4 and PS Vita versions are running in super smooth 60 FPS with the PS4 version at 1080p.

Both feature online multiplayer with two modes of play for up to four players, and we've incorporated cross play so you can compete against your buddies across PS4 and PS Vita. We also have cross buy and cloud save so everyone with a PS4 and Vita combo is getting a real treat.

Finally, there are also seven player ships, all fully upgradable and a ton of fiendishly fast levels - plus an endless survival mode. If that wasn't enough, we also have an awesome twenty two-page comic that unlocks as you play through the game. More on that shortly.

We've been working with WipeOut Co-Creator and Psygnosis art legend Jim Bowers, who has taken time out from...

Video: Switch Galaxy Ultra Revealed for PS4 and PlayStation Vita

69w ago - Atomicom Managing Director Gary Nichols officially revealed Switch Galaxy Ultra for both PS4 and PlayStation Vita platforms at Gamescom 2013 today.

To quote: It only seems like just a couple of weeks ago that we were writing our guest post about the release of Switch Galaxy for PlayStation Mobile, and already we're back with our announcement for Switch Galaxy Ultra.

The reviews we saw for Switch Galaxy blew us away, with many 9/10 scores and, of course, the awesome player feedback we received about the game really helped us get energized to improve on our PSM title as we knew there was a lot more we could do with it.

Due to the amazing reviews the Switch Galaxy received, we were invited to meet with the team at SCEE to discuss what our future plans were. As we still had lots of ideas (and, more importantly, the energy) for Switch Galaxy, we wanted to carry on working on it and try to get a native release out ourselves on PS Vita. Luckily they offered to support us in that.

So, we set about producing some new assets, redesigning elements such as the game HUD and front-end, adding new features and improving on some of the areas we felt could be made better.

Eventually, we went back to...

Sony PlayStation Mobile Spotlight: Switch Galaxy is Showcased

100°
93w ago - Atomicom Managing Director Gary Nichols showcased Switch Galaxy today for PlayStation Mobile with details below.

To quote: As with many games industry developers of a certain age I grew up with the classics: Atari 2600, Commodore 64 etc. with my very first gaming experience being on a Binatone with Pong.

One game that was always a favourite of mine was Dodge-em from the Atari 2600 which I would play for hours and hours. It was so frustrating at times, especially when it got quick, but that made me really want to beat it even more.

Back in 2011 we'd just finished development of [Register or Login to view links] and while thinking what we should do next, I thought about creating a 3D title that paid homage to Dodge-em.

So we started work and soon came to the conclusion that it was going to take way too long and be too difficult to make it enjoyable in full 3D, so we simply just got rid of the turns and made it straight instead.

We ended up with Switch, a mobile game that has gone on to be downloaded 1.7m times so far, which was so awesome considering it was a very simple endless runner that took six weeks to make. Even though it was simple, people loved it...
