400°
4w ago - Konami Community Manager Su-Yina Farmer shared some PlayStation 4 survival tips today for Konami's PS4 horror hit P.T. below.

To quote: Forget the pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween is all about scaring the bejesus out of yourself and those around you.

So what better way to celebrate than turning the lights off, grabbing a headset or turning up your surround system (essential for the full immersive experience) and starting up P.T. - it's free to download on PS Store!

Sure, you can watch the countless videos populating the Internet of horrified gamers, but there's nothing more satisfying than completing the game yourself and obtaining that 'I Played P.T. to the End and Survived' kudos. It's an experience you won't forget.

If you're too terrified to try P.T. out, or have dipped your toe into the game but need a bit of guidance, let me hold your hand and give you a few hints and tips!

Firstly, you'll notice that P.T. plays in a loop: you'll visit the same corridor, but each time something will be different.

You should take the time to inspect and interact with everything: pictures on the walls, items on the floor. Listen closely and pay attention, the devil is in the details after all. Did a door just open? And don't forget to look up...

15w ago - Today Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) officially announced H1Z1 is coming to the PlayStation 4 with details and some fresh video footage below!

To quote: "Though Sony Online Entertainment has stated multiple times already that they were planning on bringing it to the PlayStation 4. Today, the studio confirmed that that will indeed be the case.

John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment, confirmed the news during yesterday’s SOE Live. Along with this announcement, they also held a Survival Challenge for attendees, showing off over an hour of fresh gameplay footage."

For those unaware: The game is a zombie apocalypse thriller set in the United States, in which players will have to interact with resources in the world to survive, build shelters and craft weapons.

It will be free-to-play through micropayments, though as of April 2014, the way the game will be monetized has not been clearly defined; a public discussion regarding the matter has been initiated by SOE's president on Reddit, alongside another regarding the inclusion of custom servers.

Gameplay emphasizes multi-player cooperation, trading, and team-building. In an interview with Adam Clegg from SOE it was made clear that unlike other zombie MMO games, the main focus will be on surviving...

Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare: Survival Tips, PS Exclusive Hats

17w ago - Lead Gameplay Designer Chris Fox is here with some Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare survival tips and news on PlayStation exclusive hats today.

To quote: Hi everyone, Chris Fox here, lead gameplay designer on [Register or Login to view links].

We're extremely excited to be releasing Garden Warfare on PS4 and PS3 this August 19th. To celebrate, I'd like to give a quick introduction to our split-screen survival mode, as well as some tips for beginners and veterans alike.

In our split-screen mode, it's you and a friend teaming up to protect your garden from an endless zombie horde. With just two plants versus all of Dr. Zomboss' minions, character selection is key. While all characters can be successful, choosing complementary classes can help to turn the tide in your favor. The Pea Shooter and Sunflower are natural companions.

He's a mid-range specialist, and she's a healer. Pretty obvious stuff, I know. But what you might not know is that the Chomper and Cactus make quite the formidable pair. The Chomper's ability to bite right through armor allows him to take care of pesky Coffin and Outhouse zombies, leaving the Cactus free to snipe ranged zombies from a safe distance.

50°
38w ago - Namco Bandai Community Manager J Kartje unveiled a Dark Souls II PlayStation 3 Survival Guide for PS3 fans today!

To quote: Dark Souls II continues a long tradition of games that will challenge even the most veteran of gamers. You'll explore, experiment, and die many times throughout your quest.

While it would be against From Software's design philosophy to give you a detailed map of the world and a full explanation of the game's story, we did want to give you a few pointers before you go beyond death come March 11th on PS3.

A few basic changes exist within Dark Souls II that even the Souls veterans might want to know before venturing into the land of Drangleic:

Fast Travel: Bonfire's serve as the "checkpoints" in Dark Souls II. As soon as you light a new Bonfire, you're able to travel between that fire and any other Bonfire that you've lit.

Leveling: Spending hard-earned souls to level up can only happen with the Emerald Herald, a specific NPC you'll need to return to each time you wish to seek more power.

Welcome to Majula: Soaked in eerie sunlight, you'll be roaming around the hub town of Majula early on in your quest. Majula houses the Emerald Herald, vendors, merchants, and other persons of interest that will help you piece together the many...

50°
38w ago - Frictional Games Creative Director Thomas Grip is here with a SOMA update including a new trailer spotlighting the crafting of survival horror on PS4 below.

To quote: Time for a little update on how SOMA is doing. (A brief summary for those who don't already know: SOMA is a sci-fi horror game from the creators of [Register or Login to view links] that will tackle unsettling questions about consciousness. It will be released on PS4 in 2015.)

Before I get started, I should say a few words about the new teaser trailer, "Theta". This video showcases a few in-game scenes along with fresh voice work. Our hope is to give you a taste of the feel and atmosphere that SOMA will have. It also contains a few clues on what the game's story will be about.

SOMA's current status

We are currently about a week away from the alpha of the game. This is a build in which a bit more than half of the full game is playable. It's currently clocking in at around 5 hours, meaning the final game will end up at 8 hours or so.

A game like SOMA is a bit different to have in alpha than most other games. Normally, a game relies on a core mechanic that creates the basic engagement....
