What we bring to you today is a fresh look into the CO-OP experience. This time we're really going all out!
Ubisoft Shanghai is doing the maps, and we are incredibly proud of what they've been putting together. As you may know, they've got a rich history in the Splinter Cell franchise, having led the charge on Pandora Tomorrow and the current-gen version of Double Agent.
Here at Ubisoft Toronto, we're tasked with making sure everything fits appropriately into the grand package of Splinter Cell Blacklist. Not only are there 14 unique missions... there's a ton of variety contained within those missions.
There are four different mission types - two of which we're talking about today. They're given...
29w ago - CEO Hiroyuki Maruyama has shared details today for Under Defeat HD on PS3, revealing one small studio's development mission below.
To quote: As a small Japanese developer specializing in a niche genre, it is a great pleasure to be able to release one of our games internationally. Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition will be our first PS3 / PlayStation Network title distributed outside of Japan, and our first international package release since WarTech: Senko no Ronde in 2007.
Old-school. Retro. While we do use those terms to describe the titles we develop, fundamentally we hope to make games that are of the same cloth as the classics we played and loved in our youth.
Our studio was built on the concept of creating "game-like games" - drawing from the dynamics and style of past favorites. We have felt that the number of similar games on the market have dwindled, particularly in recent years.
Though we are a small team - and plans do not always go as we had hoped - our intentions to continue producing what we believe are "game-like games" has not changed.
The concept for the original arcade version of Under Defeat could be simplified to developing a realistic wartime shoot 'em up. At the time, the team that would become the core creators of Under Defeat was idle as...
71w ago - SCEA Director of Development Seth Luisi has made available a Covert Mission Walkthrough video today for Unit 13, which will be infiltrating the PlayStation Vita handheld on March 6, 2012.
To quote: We are at CES this week showing off the latest, near-final build of Unit 13 and we have something special in store for the community.
First, in case you missed the announcement from the PS Vita CES keynote yesterday afternoon, Unit 13 is scheduled for release on Tuesday, March 6th. We are quite excited to bring this new title to PS Vita.
Thanks to the excellent dual analogs sticks on the Vita, Unit 13 represents the first full shooter experience on a portable gaming device.
We also have, as another exclusive, the first view of the North American box front!
But what I am really here for is to provide an exclusive video walkthrough of a new level and game type in Unit 13. This is the first detailed video walkthrough of a Covert mission:
For those not keeping up on Unit 13, there are four different mission types. Direct Action missions are larger, multiple objective missions that reward tactical play.
Deadline missions are medium-sized missions where players have to...
110w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has revealed some new single player details alongside a video on InFamous 2's PS3 Mission Designer today, as follows:
A week ago, Sucker Punch shared a couple of new inFAMOUS 2 missions, as well as the full download, so to speak, of the game's User-Generated Content tools.
A full UGC suite in a game like I2 is a new experience on PS3, so what can you do with it? And how difficult is it to put something together? Sucker Punch Senior Game Designer Karl Deckard sat down with us to demonstrate how to remix something fun.
As a huge devotee of the first inFAMOUS, I was eager to get my hands on the DualShock 3 to try out the new single player levels. Here are my impressions to go along with the video:
This mission from the 2nd island of New Marais finds me stepping into the trainers of Evil Cole. He's got a sickly pallor, and his every attack glows a fierce red. Eeee-vil.
This mission sends Cole on a search for a blast core - and more power - somewhere in the warehouse district. As I make my way towards the target on the mini-map, I try out the revamped parkour system.
