Video: Murasaki Baby Hands-on: Strange New Worlds on PS Vita

50°
8w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman shared a hands-on video today which explores the strange new worlds in Murasaki Baby on PS Vita.

To quote: Here's the thing about PS Vita exclusive Murasaki Baby: it's one of the strangest, most subversive games I've played.

It seems like studio Ovosonico designed it to deliberately get under the skin of established game conventions, and the result is something I've never quite seen before.

You don't directly control the titular Baby, for instance; instead, you lead her through a disturbing world solely using PS Vita's front touchscreen and rear touchpad (that's right: no buttons or analog sticks at all). As the game progresses, Baby learns from your interactions and gradually becomes a bit more independent.

The game's universe is the real star, starting with the lively sketch-like art direction of the environment and its characters. From the ominous landscapes - which look like Tim Burton fever dreams - to the grotesque character designs, Murasaki Baby is a study in how to make cute creepy.

Watch my playthrough of the game's first chapter to see why Murasaki Baby is worth keeping an eye out when it lands on PS Vita this September.

Video: Zen Pinball: Doctor Strange Table Coming to PSN in December

50°
54w ago - Zen Studios Community Manager Bobby Loertscher announced that the Zen Pinball: Doctor Strange Table is coming to PSN in December.

To quote: The greatest powers of the occult, both from our own world and the darkest dimensions in existence, are combining their forces to take over Earth. And only one man can stop them - Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme!

With the help of the beautiful Clea and his faithful servant Wong, the Master of the Mystic Arts faces his greatest challenge ever in Doctor Strange pinball, the newest addition to the Marvel Pinball library.

Strange's rival sorcerer Baron Mordo has called upon the demonic forces of the Dread Dormammu and the Fear Lord, Nightmare, all part of his plot to assume the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme for himself. Meanwhile, Shuma-Gorath, the Lord of Chaos, resides in the background with nefarious plans of his own...

Numerous voiceover lines and situations were adapted straight from 50 years of Doctor Strange comic books for this table, including the classic first two issues of DOCTOR STRANGE, SORCERER SUPREME (1988), wherein Dormammu threatened our dimension by overtaking Strange in his own body. Only with carefully cast spells (i.e., deadeye shots from...

Absurd, Strange, and Highly Improbable Life Goal: Will You Help?

250°
288w ago - So I recently came up with something I can do that would let me die accomplished: I want to play a game that was never programmed.

I've been thinking about it for about a week now, but haven't done much research on it but I came to these few conclusion so far:

• The game will essentially be "randomly" created
• The simplest "terminal" for the project would be NES
• The generated file should be between 5KB and 25KB, and follow the rules for zip compression. (This is the part that makes everything improbable -there are 7.4583407 E1125 possible files that could be produced (expanded example below) (25000^256))
• The production of the file will have a initial seed, and ideally keep a log of tested values
• Ideally a check on the NES ROM should also be performed.
• With the number of possibilities, the likelyhood of a game being produced is just as probable as a picture Pam Anderson loading up or even the first few lines of a Shakespeare play, or Beethoven's Symphony.
• A user in control of the produced random value can copy/paste, a known value, and easily load a game such TETRIS...(I can't quite understand if this would be violation of Copyright Law (I compare it to throwing a tomato on the ground and it coming out being just like Mario))
