133w ago - Shortly following the PS3 Firmware 3.61 update, reports came in that users running L.A. Noire may be causing PS3 consoles to be overheating.
Today Senior Director of Corporate Communications & Social Media Patrick Seybold has addressed concerns on the issue below with an official statement on behalf of Sony and Rockstar Games, as follows:
We have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3s overheating or shutting down while playing L.A. Noire. At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat.
We are both committed to working hard to find solutions to this and any issues that may arise. If you are experiencing any issues with L.A. Noire or your PS3 hardware, please contact technical support using any of the means provided below:
226w ago - Today the Examiner (linked above) took notice of a statement in the latest Kojima Productions podcast by Sean Eyestone, which essentially brings new hope for PS3 Trophy support to fans of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PlayStation 3.
To quote: "Just to address one issue that we've been getting a lot of comments about. And this is, of course, about trophies.
I just wanna tell everybody out there right now that your voices are being heard and that we're not ignoring you. We hear everything that you are saying. It's just that we can't say anything just yet.
But as soon as we have something to say, we will announce it. So, if we can just ask everyone to just be patient, we will give you an answer. But right now we can't say anything. So we just ask for everyone's understanding with that and just ask for everybody to remain patient and we'll let you know."
282w ago - Sony has finally issued an official statement regarding the launch of PS3 Firmware v2.41 and the release of v2.40. Courtesy of Sony's "unoffical" blog Three Speech it states:
"The PLAYSTATION¬®3 (PS3™) system software version 2.41 is now available for update from July 8, 2008. With this update, we have fixed the problem that prevented a limited number of PS3s from activating properly after updating to version 2.40, when certain system administrative data were contained on the HDD.
For those users who have updated to version 2.40 and have experienced the problem that XMB™(XrossMediaBar) is not appearing, or no images are displaying on the screen, please contact Customer Service.
We have confirmed that for those users who have successfully updated to the version 2.40 and are able to activate the PS3 system, this problem will not occur on your PS3.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you and appreciate your understanding and continued support."
