170w ago - Today the SOCOM Confrontation Online Team has announced that PS3 patch update version 1.61 is incoming, as follows:

Patch 1.61 is scheduled to be deployed on Thursday, February 18th at 2:00 a.m. PST (10:00 a.m. GMT, 7:00 p.m. JST).

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the forum. This patch includes adjustments to the following:

• Lighting of the night maps
• Scope line of sight
• Weapon movement while prone

This patch also addresses an extremely rare issue concerning the loss of Command Equity. Those who have been following this issue on the forums will know that our Quality Assurance and On-line Support groups have been unable to recreate this issue.

However, this patch places additional safe guards into the code that we hope will address the issue.

179w ago - Update: Sony has now confirmed that Socom Confrontation Cold Front PS3 DLC will be available in all European PlayStation stores from January 7th, 2010.

Today SCEA Senior Producer Mark Rogers revealed some details via PlayStation Blog on tomorrow's Socom Confrontation Cold Front PS3 DLC.

To quote: We've got some great news for all you SOCOM fans! We're excited to announce that the Cold Front expansion pack for SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation will be available tomorrow for download in North America on the PlayStation Network. Cold Front is loaded with a number of new features and content.

180w ago - As a follow-up to yesterday's article, today SCEA Senior Producer Mark Rogers has announced that the SOCOM: Confrontation PS3 patch 1.60 is now available for download.

To quote: We have some great news for SOCOM: Confrontation fans. We're excited to announce that the 1.60 patch is now available for download. Patch 1.60 contains a massive amount of new content and features entirely free to all players.

New Special Forces - The Dutch KCT and Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces teams are featured in this update. Each Force is provided with two new heads, a new voice and light, medium and heavy variants of their own torsos and legs (each with a unique camouflage pattern).

New Weapons - Two new primary weapons will be immediately accessible to players who select to play as the new Special Forces. The Dutch KCT will have access to the 417 assault rifle, while the Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces will receive the SPAS 15 shotgun. Additionally, four new weapons will be made available to players regardless of assigned Special Force. New weapons include the 9mm Sub Machine Gun, M82A1A, AK-74 and SR-25.

180w ago - As stated today by the Socom Confrontation Online Team today on their blog: We are happy to announce that PS3 Patch 1.6 will be available for download tomorrow, December 10th at 2am PST (5am EST, 4am CST, 3am MST, 10am GMT, 7pm JST).

Please note that the server will not be available during the update but should be available within 1 hour of the release time.

This highly anticipated patch contains a number of updates as well as free downloadable content! In preparation for the upcoming Cold Front DLC, Patch 1.60 provides players with new content and feature updates that include new Special Forces complete with their own unique weapons as well as new primary weapons that will be immediately accessible to all players. In addition to this new content, further optimizations, enhancements and fixes have been added. The highlights of the new content and fixes are detailed below:
