47w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared an exclusive look at the PS4 UI and social features today led by Shuhei Yoshida on its ease of use.

To quote: One of the most memorable moments from our Gamescom press conference was surely the sight of Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida taking the gathered audience on a tour of the new PS4 user interface, live on stage, from the comfort of a big leather armchair.

If you haven't seen it yet, please do take a look at the video below to see him hop seamlessly from the PS4 home screen into a livecast of a friend playing Killzone: Shadow Fall, before joining that game and then, finally, sending a screenshot of the session straight out to his Twitter feed.

PlayStation.Blog caught up with Yoshida-san the morning after the show to go into a little more detail on the PS4 UI, and find out what he's most excited for players to see come November 15th.

PlayStation.Blog: Obviously not many people have used the PS4 UI yet, so can you tell us a little bit about how it feels?

Shuhei Yoshida: What I showed was only a...

Video: Driveclub at Gamescom 2013: The Social Network of Racers

49w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill posted up a video today from Gamescom 2013 showcasing Driveclub, dubbed the social network of racers below.

To quote: Guten tag from Gamescom! I hope you got a chance to see yesterday's press conference, where we saw a glut of new games announced (and finally found out when we can get our own PS4s!).

Sid and I are in Germany, tracking down new info for the latest games. Yesterday, I sat in on a presentation by Col Rodgers, the game director on PS4's upcoming launch exclusive, Driveclub.

He went into detail about Driveclub's social features, the PS Plus Edition of the game, and showed us how Remote Play on PS Vita works.

Rodgers described Driveclub as the "social network for racing games," and this is exemplified by the game's Challenge system. If you feel especially confident about a run on a certain track, with a certain car, even at a certain time of day, you can issue a challenge to your club, sending a notification to their PS4s or to their mobile phones (courtesy of the Driveclub Mobile app).

As they play and try to beat your challenge, they'll rack up points for the club.

Things get interesting when you elect to challenge your other friends, who might not be part of your club. If...

Video: Destiny of Spirits Brings Social Strategy to PlayStation Vita

50°
59w ago - Sony Marketing Manager Mark Valledor is here with a fresh video trailer today spotlighting Destiny of Spirits, which brings a social strategy to PlayStation Vita.

To quote: Amidst all the E3 announcements happening this week, we have a special one of our own - introducing Destiny of Spirits, a new free-to-play social experience that integrates strategic fantasy battles with your everyday PS Vita activity.

Our teams in Japan, in conjunction with Q Entertainment, have been working hard to bring a gaming experience that you can play every day, but more importantly, provide a community where you'll be able to contribute, even when you're not playing.

Collaborate with Friends in Battle

In Destiny of Spirits, evil Spirits lay claim to areas around the globe, and it'll take the collaboration of friends around the world to remove these threats, known as Chaos Spirits.

Battle by customizing your own team with powerful elemental Spirits, trade Spirits with friends around the world to diversify your squad, or let your friends borrow from your collection - the game is much more dynamic as you connect with more friends.

113w ago - CEO James Spahn has announced that social video service Nico Nico is coming to PS Vita today with a video and details available below.

To quote: Nico Nico is a social video networking service that allows you to view and overlay time stamped comments on live or uploaded videos.

I'm excited to announce that a PS Vita dedicated Nico Nico application will be available on PlayStation Store starting today. With more than 27 million subscribers worldwide, [Register or Login to view links] consistently ranks within the top 15 most-viewed sites in Japan, so we're looking forward to expanding the Nico Nico community by bringing this app to PS Vita owners in North America.

With June 4th just around the corner, you'll want to keep up with all of the exciting news and games that will be unveiled at this year's PlayStation E3 2012 press conference.

Nico Nico will be the only service that enables you to watch a beta livestream of the PlayStation press conference directly on your PS Vita. Personally, I can't think of a better way to watch all of the latest and greatest from PlayStation at E3 on the go than on your 5" OLED screen.

Future updates to the app will allow you to broadcast directly...
