83w ago - IO Interactive Community Manager Nick Price has posted up a video today introducing the Hitman: Absolution Sniper Challenge and a PS3 release date as well!
To quote: Excitement around Hitman: Absolution has been building at an impressive rate over the last year.
In fact, today it's exactly one year ago we came out and announced that we were working on Absolution and we've had a great ride.
From sharing the first gameplay at E3 2011 and releasing the full 16 minutes for everyone to see afterwards to showing off the gorgeous orphanage level, revealing the fate of 47's long-time handler Diana, showing off new features like Instinct and introducing exciting new gameplay series of videos called 'Introducing', we can safely say the fans have been with us through quite a ride thus far.
And now it's time to kick it up another level. Today, we announce two new things. One is the Hitman: Sniper Challenge pre-order bonus and the other is the release date of Absolution. Let's start with the release date - November 20th, 2012 is the day the game will hit PS3.
So get your behind to Mars, er, GameStop and pre-order the game. Why? Well, that's where this Sniper Challenge comes in.
87w ago - Rebellion Senior Producer Steve Hart has shared a video today demonstrating how one bullet can change history in Sniper Elite V2 on PS3.
To quote: It's been seven years since the first Sniper Elite came out, so it's a really exciting time for us this week - we'll be showing gamers how amazing the reboot is shaping up in the demo we're releasing on the PlayStation Store.
All the previews for the game have been immense and the media have really been loving it and understanding what we've tried to do. It's only fair that gamers now get the chance to play, ahead of the full game's launch on May 4th.
The game definitely isn't 'run and gun', it's much more of a thinking man's shooter. You literally don't know what's around the next corner, so you have to think ahead and live by the mantra - Observe. Plan. Execute.
The demo is of a level early in the game where you have to hijack an armored convoy and assassinate a leading V2 rocket engine specialist. We really want people to experiment with the different ways you can play through the level.
It's not always about shooting - sometimes it's more advantageous to slip by unnoticed. Rather than take out one soldier...
128w ago - Producer Lukasz Janczuk has shared some update details alongside two new videos spotlighting Sniper: Ghost Warrior for Sony's PS3 entertainment system today.
To quote: At the very beginning of the Sniper: Ghost Warrior project, we were aiming to have the game available on all platforms from day one.
In the end, we had to make the tough decision to delay the PS3 version for several months so that we could fully maximize the experience for its audience. But with that delay, we knew that when we did ship the PS3 version (in stores today!) we could make sure that it was superior to the version available on other platforms.
One of the first things we did in the interim period was to really look at every element of the game to assess what we could do to make those improvements. Bug fixing was the first and most obvious step, but we desperately wanted to use the extra development time to give PS3 owners more content and therefore a better sniping experience.
We added two bolt-action sniper rifles that we discovered had a profound impact on gameplay; if you can't kill enemies quickly then you have to choose your target more wisely. But this fundamental addition in gameplay then created new the necessity of new missions designed to...
181w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Arne Meyer has announced that the Uncharted 2 'The Lab' PS3 Sniper Extermination gets underway this weekend.
To quote: If you aren't already planning on participating in the "The Lab" this weekend – or haven't in previous weekends – log in to UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer and check out the limited-time-only "The Lab" playlist in competitive matchmaking.
This weekend's episode of "The Lab" is Sniper Extermination. All players start with only Dragon Sniper rifles and there are no other weapons available on the map.
The goal of the game is similar to our Elimination gametype – once you or your opponent has been dispatched, you're out of the round until all opponents on either team are wiped out. The team with any or the most remaining players left alive wins that round.
Best of five rounds wins the entire match. No Boosters are active for Sniper Extermination, so high-level players and teams who have unlocked Situational Awareness won't be at an unfair advantage of those who haven't unlocked Evasion yet.
We'll be running Sniper Extermination on the following multiplayer maps:
• The Sanctuary
• The Train Wreck
• The Warzone The Plaza
• The Lost City
198w ago - Zipper Interactive's Sr. Community Manager Jeremy Dunham has started off the week with the next installment in their PlayStation 3 developer video series, with today's tips highlighting the MAG PS3 Sniper.
To quote: People who play as snipers love it. People who are killed by snipers hate them.
But regardless of which end of the spectrum you're currently on, anyone can become an expert at the Zoom-in of Death with this excellent tips provided by UI Manager Steve Harris and Lead Designer of MAG, CJ Heine.
What's up? This is Steve and it's important that you know that Snipers are usually the guys supporting the rest of the team by clearing objective areas or preventing the opposing team from reaching their objectives from long range.
Being an effective sniper and contributing to your squad is extremely rewarding when it's done correctly. Here are a few tips to help you become a better MAG Sniper.
• Keep moving! The biggest mistake that snipers make is that they stay camped in one spot. The action in MAG moves very quickly, and even if you are able to take a few targets down, it's just a matter of time...
