59w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developers opium2k, Themaister and Squarepusher2 have made available a PS3 port of SSNES (manual reader shader), which is a multi-system emulator for Linux, Windows, Mac OS X and BSD with roots as a SNES emulator.

To quote: Due to be released within the next day or two is version 0.9.5 of SSNES as well as the initial release of the PS3 and 360 ports. SSNES is a multi-platform, multi-system emulator with ports being worked on for PC, OSX, PS3, 360 and a few more I believe.

As I said, it's a multi-system emulator. Don't let the name fool you, it's not just for SNES games! It currently supports games from systems such as NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, SMS, GG, Genesis & FBA using selectable cores from various emulators to ensure the best compatibility, accuracy and performance for the end user.

To demonstrate the capabilities of SSNES and more specifically maister's manual reader shader I've been working on some implementations for the past couple months to show off just a taste of some of this shader's uses.

118w ago - The Super Nintendo Emulator PS3 port is updated once again, this time to SNES9x PS3 4.4.6 for Firmware 1.92+, 3.15, 3.41 and PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware 3.55.

• HD version and Normal version merged into one - there are now HD shaders that do the same as the previous HD version.
  * HD shaders (which upscale the resolution to 512x448) instead of hacked HD version. '4xSoft-HD' is currently the best out of the HD shaders - more to come.
  * The HD version in version 4.4.5 ran in interlaced mode - with the HD shaders, you can run in either progressive or interlaced mode.
  
• Fixed PAL50/PAL60 automatic activation in 576i/p mode.
  
• Fixed Rise Of The Robots interlacing issues - other games which use interlaced mode also corrected.
  
• Fixed Multiplayer controls - only player 1 worked.

• New HD Version - every game runs at the SNES' high-resolution mode (512x448 interlaced mode). Try this with the right shader on (4xSoft) and this can make the games look beautiful. Both progressive (1080p/720p/480p/576p) and interlaced modes (480i/576i/1080i) work with this - try interlaced for best results.
