Sega's light gun tradition continues on Wii. First impressions inside.
Since the first rumblings of Ghost Squad's Wii release, the IGN Wii team has been pretty optimistic for the shooter's reincarnation on Nintendo's newest system. True; Wii doesn't do exact light gun conversion (at least not yet), but at least the IR adaptation has made it possible for games like Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, as well as Duck Hunt clones in Wii Play and the possibility of House of the Dead or Virtua Cop's revival down the road - should SEGA will it. As the first light gun outing for the Japan-based company, SEGA is pushing the spiritual successor of both Virtua Cop and Confidential Mission (another arcade game that had a brief stint on Dreamcast), as Ghost Squad is now heading to Wii.
Ghost Squad is, in nearly every respect, the next Virtua Cop incarnation. The title has changed, and the game is now more robust, but everything from disarming shots to headshots and a prec... More »

Remember the possibility of playing PC games on the PS3 sometime in the future?
The guys over at StreamMyGame finally managed (a few weeks ago) to put together the system that would facilitate doing just that.
If you've got a PS3 with Linux installed (any type of Linux - Yellow Dog Linux, Ubuntu etc) you can get this up and running. More explanations in a thread on the StreamMyGame forum here. (and here for a tutorial on how to install Linux on the PS3)
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning on doing it soon enough. I've downloaded a free (legit) copy of Yellow Dog Linux and have started backing up the data on my PS3's hard drive (you need to create a special partition to install Lin... More »
If you’ve just been aching to get your hands on Propaganda Game’s upcoming Turok title, the wait is finally over. Even though the game doesn’t ship until February 5th, a demo of the game is available in the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine.
This game is not necessarily a sequel but rather a reboot of a franchise that was desperately in need of some fresh innovation, and hopefully Propaganda games will end up delivering.
In the game you play as Joseph Turok, a member of the FNG military unit that has been sent to another planet in search of a war criminal. As luck would have it, the planet happens to be infested with dinosaurs.
The demo begins with you and your fellow squad mate Slade as you traverse your way through a dark system of caves, and it doesn’t take very long for a multitude of beautifully animated Raptors hurl themselves upon you. One of the things that the game’s developer Propaganda, has stressed is their focus... More »

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto talked about the company's new plans for 2008.
And although the interview's main focus was aimed towards his plans for the Wii Fit, the highlight was the mention of a possible Super Mario Galaxy sequel and a new Legend of Zelda title for Wii.
Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto is interviewed in the latest issue of Famitsu. While the interview, which was done to commemorate the magazine reaching issue number 1000, is mostly reflection, Miyamoto did give a few hints on future plans.
First, the Balance Wii Board, the peripheral that's included with Wii Fit. The magazine noted that Wii Fit has been quite the success story for Nintendo so far. To this, Miyamoto responded that if the game sees success overseas as well, Nintendo may end up releasing separate titles that make use of the peripheral.
The magazine also asked Miyamoto the inevitable question about sequels, and he gave the... More »
The realm of online first-person shooters isn't exactly sparsely populated. Since last fall we've been given Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Team Fortress 2, Unreal Tournament 3 and Call of Duty 4, to name a few, all of which featured excellent online competitive modes.
Compared to that, this year has been relatively light for first-person shooter releases, something Nexon is hoping to address by bringing their free-to-play, pay-per-item online shooter, Combat Arms, to North America.
To get a better idea of what the game is and how it works, we had a chance to send a few questions to Herb Yang, product manager on the planning and design team. These questions were submitted and answered via email. Our screenshot and video galleries have been updated as well.
IGN: Who is developing the game? What projects have they worked on before?
Herb Yang: The developer is called Doobic Studios, and is based in Korea. Their previous project was a FPS ... More »
