To quote: For all the people who had problems with the login function this release should fix it.

Good evening, everyone! Proudly I present you my newest application "PSN Infinity v2".

Since in most news posts my co-coder genius iQD is forgotten, I have to mention him for his great help on this application here once again.

This version is released as public beta. Completing the app and including all functions I want it to have will take several weeks but the main function aka browsing the PSN stores is already working.

This is the first time I force a donation alert in an app, but necessary as this program is a very huge and time consuming project.

So if you like this beta, please donate a small amount to give me some more time to work...

SKFU Progress on PS3 Custom Firmware, More Debug Options

700°
207w ago - Today SKFU has updated his blog (linked above) with a follow-up to his previous work and shared some new information and progress regarding PS3 custom firmware.

He was able to add several more working debug options to JailBroken retail PS3 consoles, such as Title Store preview in the network section.

To quote: "While the USB Loader by JaicraB has some trouble rebooting all correctly it seems for a final CFW we need to overwrite dev_flash instead just loading live from USB mass storage.

Some things you can already do for a nice working CFW:

1. Replace all in "/vsh/module + /sys/external + /sys/internal" with the content of a 3.41 debug dev_flash.

2. In "/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/category_game.xml" add this in the "view id=root" Items section

[Register or Login to view links]

This will bring the "/app_home/GAME" and "Install PKG" options back.

3. In "/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/category_psn.xml" switch "root" and "tool_root".

This will add Title Store previews in the network section.

4. In "/sys/external" you grab liblv2dbg_for_dex from a debug unit and rename it liblv2dbg_for_cex....

SKFU: Sony Wants PS3 YLOD, TeamICE PSP Emulator Bricks PS3

850°
210w ago - Today SKFU reports that based on his recent findings Sony may actually want PS3 YLOD consoles, and in related news the TeamICE 'PSP Emulator' is bricking PS3 consoles of those who use it.

To quote from SKFU: "Due my reserach for a CFW I noticed an interesting string in a .RCO file (system_plugin.rco).

"msg_error_console_hot_pls_restart"

The system has become hot. Please turn off the system and wait a while before turning it on again.

So my thought is: Could the PS3 have prevented most of the YLOD cases, as there should be a function to shutdown the PS3 when it is too hot? Seems so, but well - someone may want to make profit."

According to PSGroove, Forum user TeamICE has released an alleged 'PSP Emulator' that is reported to be bricking PlayStation 3 consoles.

To quote: "They are showing screenshots and even including a readme which adds to the appearance of legitimacy. Unfortunately, this is not a psp emulator, when ran it actually will brick your PS3 console.

If you see someone posting this teamICE psp emu, then please ignore it and report the user.

Mathieulh was quick to announce that the EBOOT.BIN is a manufacturing_updater_for_reset.self. Explaining that the jailbreak patches enable the cosole...

SKFU on PS3 Registry Research and PS3 USB Custom Firmware

1200°
212w ago - Earlier today we reported on a preliminary PS3 flash and registry entry analysis from DemonHades and RichDevX, and now SKFU (linked above) has shared his input thus far.

To quote: Since PS3News released their PS3 FTP application I did some research on the PS3's registry.

The registry and it's backup are stored on dev_flash2 as xRegistry.sys.

The header

BC AD AD BC 00 00 00 90 00 00 00 02 BC AD AD BC

The entries

Every entry has a fronttag which is 5 bytes long. I'll describe:

56 41 00 11 01

This is an example value:

/setting/parental

Behind the value theres a 1 byte close mark:

00

The 5 bytes

The first 4 bytes are a unique but random number. Every value has it to be identified and found by the system as there is no special pattern. An sprx(?) finds every value by this 4 bytes.

56 41 00 11

The 5th byte can be 00, 01 or 02. 00 tagged values are actually activated/used by the VSH, 01 ones not....
